Got this for $99.96 recently on Amazon - after a month we have a box full of fungus where we should have a crop of milkweed plants. The same seeds planted in a low tech seed starting tray similar to https://www.amazon.com/Jiffy-Professional-Greenhouse-25-Plant-Starter/dp/B00004RA48/ sprouted in 2 - 3 days. The aerogarden may well be the greatest thing since sliced bread, but not for all seeds. Some just don’t take to growing in water.
Sorry, maybe if I had a restaurant, but I just don’t see the value. I could have fresh herbs flown in monthly for this price
I have several AeroGardens. Love them. I have a small one at work that gets a lot of attention. Started 3 mini tomato pods in early December and have at least 50 tiny ripe tomatoes between 3 plants with more blooms coming on and I’ve already harvested about 15-20 little tomatoes. Seed pods are expensive but you can also plant your own seeds. As someone mentioned not all seeds are appropriate for the AeroGarden, but I have had wonderful luck with mine.
Seeds are doing much better in my LED bounty than they were in either of my older ones. It is fantastic to have fresh herbs any time in the house, and since they are grown inside, I don’t have to worry about, bugs or dog pee on them. I am now trying tomatoes and Jalapenos. They are both growing great. I have a handful of tomatoes already. The ones with the digital displays that are easier to reset after a power outage are better. 1 caveat: They are inconsistent about turning the motor off if the water is low. The sound does change, that is a better indicator of the water level. If it runs with water that is too low, it will burn out the motor.
