NETGEAR Orbi AC3000 Whole Home Tri-band WiFi System

NETGEAR Orbi AC3000 Whole Home Tri-band WiFi System

Be aware that Netgear offers only 90 days of support for these before peppering you with opportunities to pay for the full year of support that most manufacturers of complex electronics provide free of charge. The Netgear app, used to setup and monitor the system, reminds you that you haven’t paid the monthly surcharge for ‘parental controls’ or ‘security’, making the system sound as if it is unsecure without the add-on. For such expensive hardware, I find these practices objectionable (but we still use ours, and it works fine, but it does require someone Google-savvy and technologically competent to resolve issues in the absence of Netgear support - and that should be a dealbreaker for many potential users). The Orbi system was a pioneer of residential WiFi mesh networks and they priced those devices accordingly. There is much competition in this space now, with products that are higher rated and less expensive (even at Woot pricing). It’s really hard to make a case for these, especially at this price IMO.
