Apparently, this was recalled due to being a fire hazard (risk)? If so, Woot! needs to remove it…
[MOD: No recalls found. ]
Not seeing any recalls. Link?
May not be this precise model - Anker has about five variations of this form factor and capacity. If there is a verifiable concern, please do share.
I have several of these (or one of the nearly identical versions - I honestly can’t tell from looking at it), and they have been very stable after use during one major international trip, as well as a few across several US states. In a pinch, I’ve even used one to power my laptop, a portable monitor (one of those nice Viewsonic portable ones that I bought on Woot over a year ago), and charge a tablet all at once. I was fairly impressed. But typical usage has been much lighter - Charge an iPad, phone, and some headphones overnight. Works great, and I generally have had great luck with this brand.
But no brand is immune to having a “stinker” and either a flaw, or a batch of poor components in their supply chain occasionally. Please do share if there is a real recall notice - I have NOT received one yet for mine.
I did some poking around. Apparently Amazon sent out a message to people who purchased this saying it was recalled by Anker. A few days later Amazon issued a retraction saying the first message was a mistake.
These power banks are no more dangly than any other high capacity battery.
$85 at best buy
No Anker power banks at Best Buy at that price.
Got a link?
I’m seeing $179.

Mine arrived DOA - charges, but dies once charging power is removed. Notified Woot on the 17th or 18th, still waiting for them to check if they have any stock for a replacement unit.
Not sure why it takes 2-3 business days for that to happen when my unit arrived in less time, and there’s clearly stock. So not thrilled so far.
Hello. Make sure you give it a long charge for the first charge. Batteries are often shipped drained for safety.
I’ll check in with CS.
Hi TT.
I did fully charge it - overnight - but would power down immediately after charge was removed, and wouldn’t charge anything subsequently. Definitely is DOA.
Someone just reached out regarding this matter, which I greatly appreciate. Thanks for your help.
