Just received my silver (NEW) Apple MagSafe 3 cable. Came loose in the Jiffy mailing bag, no Apple package or material.
I’m a little skeptical that this is genuine. It has a QR code and “EVT CFG61b” on the white USB-C boot, Consumer Electronics logo on the reverse. “China” and the part number are printed on the grey part of the boot. Connecting it to a 35W Apple USB-C charger (came with a Macbook Air 15"), System Information identifies the Apple Charger through the cable just as a genuine cable does.
Edit: the USB-C connector boot is 1mm shorter than a 2023 Macbook Air included cable. The MagSafe connector of this “new” cable has a small nick in the male portion of the plug.
My genuine Apple cable (came with Macbook Air 13") has no markings on the boot. Instead the part number and Apple information is printed super-tiny on the metal shank of the USB-C connector itself.
Looking for information on authenticating actual Apple cables. Would appreciate anyone with a link providing same.
