I paid a little less than this on an auction site a while ago because I was curious. They’re primarily gimmick headphones, but the concept is neat if the tech gets better in the future. The headphones are a little too heavy, and the sound quality is decent, but you can spend much less to get comparable sound performance. I’d rather wear much lighter Sony XM4s to XM6s or Audio Technica M50XBTs.
The mask piece that provides air simultaneously feels both cheap and high tech at the same time. If you’re using the air at anything above level 1 power, you should have a battery on hand to recharge if you’re using it 2 hours or more. I’ve used it on planes a few times, and for sure got some looks and stares. If you don’t care about people laughing at you looking like a weirdo, it is fun to use. I’ve also used the mask while mowing the lawn during allergy season too, and it did make a difference. I’ve heard it also helps in places that have smog and ozone days, but YMMV.

Okay Woot, just get the XM6s down to this price and I might buy them.

They’re better known as the “dumbest product ever reviewed” by Marques Brownlee.

Crinacle, a headphone/IEM reviewer that actually takes measurements as well as subjective listening sessions, reviewed them and his opinion is that they sound batter than Apple Airpods Max, all the Bose ANC and Sony ANC wireless headphones and actually are pretty solid audiophile wireless headphones, just not $1000 US good, but compare well with $500 wireless ANC ones. He also tells viewers to watch Marques’ review for people who want to see about the non-headphone features since it’s not in his wheel house. As long as the fans aren’t turned on, the headphones are pretty solid… @363seconds https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_0rY5Y-Rlow&t=363s for the audio review.

I bought these here because I think it will be hilarious to use with my Apple Vision Pro. Being silently obnoxious is my hobby and my passion. Now I just need a Labubu to dangle off the battery pack and the ensemble will be complete.

Dyosn still sells Filters for them. What is the difference between:
Zone (Ultra Blue & Silver)
Zone (ultra Blue & Silver) -1
Figure
Zone Absolute+ (Prussian Blue & Copper) is just the face mask & ear caps being copper color, plus airplane connect cables along with travel ‘box’ instead of round travel case.
Thanks for any input…might actually get these as crazy as that maybe due to low price for what you are getting. I do get allergy shots and cut my grass so maybe they would help a bit. Could put a smiley face sticker on the front mask or other such crazy sticker.

Oh, just found an Engadget review of the filtering aspect of the Dyson Zone. TLDR: It’s actually really good at removing PM10/2.5 particulates and removes some VOCs as well.

They actually went to the Department of Medicine at NYU and used some pretty expensive equipment to do some tests.

Do these suck and blow air at the same time? Do they ever lose suction?

The air filter visor is worth $10 all by itself but Dyson always prices products ridiculously high and gullible people believe anything expensive must be better than lower priced items.

Interesting that the regular price shows at $699, yet you can get a pair on Amazon at the regular price of $398.99. They look the same, have the same title, etc. What’s the difference in the product that makes this one more expensive?

Awkshully, Woot uses the term “reference price” which is like the points in Whose Line is it Anyway, it doesn’t really mean much.

On Dyson’s website, they sell the normal versions for $699.99 and the Absolute+ version for $799.99. Those are some “reference” prices, but definitely are higher than from a 3rd party seller on the mothership, plus another seller sells them for $299 Amazon.com: Dyson Zone WP01 Headphone, Air Purification, Advanced Noise Cancellation, Touch & Voice Control, Built-in Accelerometer, Beamforming & Noise-Cancelling Microphones, Ultra Blue/Prussian Blue | WP01 : Electronics

Dyson: the company that charges more for products so that the rest of the industry can raise their prices, too.

When Dyson first came out with their vacuums, they had to cover the R&D expenses they spent in failed attempts at a vacuum that never looses suction. They were one of the first companies to charge an exurbanite amount of money for a vacuum made of plastic that breaks easily. The vacuum cleaner industry followed suit and began inflating their prices for vacuums.

Now Dyson is doing the same for hair dryers. Look at the prices of non-dyson hair dryers since Dyson entered the market. :up_arrow: :money_with_wings:

And so Dyson enters the audio world that already had manufacturers that make high-end products. Hopefully they can’t influence audio manufacturers to do what happened to vacuums and hair dryers.

The good news is the headphone industry has already long been charging an exuberant amount for what is mostly made of cheap plastic. So Dyson is unlikely to make it worse. The production cost of headphones that sells for hundreds are usually around $20 per unit or less. For the $20 to $50 headphones it is like $10 or less.

Called Dyson, seems back in the day (thinking) the web app that gives you details about air quality was subscription based (as in a fee every month). That app has been killed by Dyson (got to love a company that both charges a fee, back in the day when they charged 1k (am thinking) then kills the app after the cancel the product. Pretty petty if you ask me for all those that purchased it prior.

Anyway, just a ‘heads up’ all. They

The sales person said the filters are not available either yet when going to the site I show as available so go figure… …called them back and they actually do have them for sale.

Course can still use the headphones for the air cleaning benefits, you just won’t have any app to go see data about what you are breathing. Sadly Dyson very sad. Though such is business at times one figures.

Wearing your favorite ANC headphones with an KF94 mask (real N95 has uncomfortable straps) looks better and is more functional and you don’t have to buy expensive or discontinued filter.

Everything I’ve seen from that brand has looked COOL. What happened?
