Did the woot staff boost a running Best Buy truck idling at Buc-ee’s? Because that’s the only valid explanation, IMHO
In all honesty, I’m oh so very tempted to buy it because I like toys & I’m very bad with money. I’ve wanted a switch for a while but I really don’t know about not having a mfr warranty. I hate scammy 3rd party warranty companies. It really shouldn’t be a thing for new products!
So when will that one come out? Is Woot like a pac-man game where @davejlives collects bottles while angry wooters chase him through a warehouse and sometimes there’s pizza?
So not going to go through all the comments above because I got a general idea.
For the nay-sayers, Woot does this every now and then offering a limited time and usually sold out product for around the MSRP instead of the current scalper price.
I did some quick searching and this limited edition model is sold out everywhere, and going for like $150 more from scalpers.
I just want to say I love that Woot does this, and I’m not the biggest fan that people nitpick completely irrelevant stuff (like the “I found a cheaper” above, which is just the standard OLED, not the limited edition Pokemon one).
*EDIT: Quick edit, for another example they ended up selling the Space Jam XBox controllers for MSRP like months and months after it had long been sold out and being sold at scalper prices. I loved that. And I’m not spending too much time searching around, so please do link a cheaper version of this limited Pokemon edition if anyone finds them!
It’s a pretty solid fact that Nintendo doesn’t really discount consoles… they just add “free” additions to it.
Complaining about this price just seems a bit silly. You’re simply paying $9 above MSRP for an obscure color. This is the obscurity the keeps Amazon-Woot alive.
I’m more shocked so many people are outraged by this.
@Wooter814042327 Yes, you are correct, this is likely the last time you can find this edition before Christmas. It is a very high wishlist item this year and is extremely difficult to find!
They may not be trying to rip people off, but people have come to Woot since it’s inception to get GOOD deals. If we wanted to pay full price, why not just go directly to the mothership?
I mean, sure… they don’t have this handy dandy forum where we can all b!tch about how much better old Woot was, but is that really enough incentive?
Seeing as resale sites have this selling at minimum $100 more than the MSRP that Woot has this listed at, either buy the Japanese one here and gamble on the warranty if you are wanting one before the next wave hits post-holidays or move along: either way, QQ less. Good grief.
I have been searching forever for this edition and was extremely happy to finally find it at retail price. People are pricing these out of the park and selling them in pieces. It’s ridiculous
I got one last time. It was in English as the default startup. My SO was so mad that I bought it at that price. Luckily they like Pokemon and fell in love with the design and colors.
