Is it eligible to purchase Apple care to extend the warranty?

Since it comes with an Apple warranty, it should be eligible.

You only get 60 days to buy Applecare+ so at this point these phones are not eligible.

What is the battery health on this thing? Is it at 100% considering it has never been used before, only box was opened?

Should be.

Yes and no. When you get a NEW iPhone from Woot, you may see an earlier activation date on Apple’s Settings, About information. Make a PDF of your invoice/receipt, add the Serial and IMEI numbers to it, and schedule a call with Apple Support.

In many cases, a Support rep has accepted the new receipt and reset the “sale date” of the phone, which then grants a 1 year limited warranty starting from the date of purchase, and makes the phone eligible for AppleCare. I’ve done this with two items bought off Woot.

Obviously this isn’t the case with every open box or new-in-box iPhone that Woot sells. And some Wooters have had no success with one Support rep only to roll the dice and talk to another rep who DOES reset the sale/activation date.

(Nb YES I read the yellow box. That these were activated in January throws a kink into this. But I would wager that presenting Apple Support with a receipted dated in April “New - Open box” and claiming that you’re the first owner, a rep may do the needful.)

Open box isn’t new, this is a used device. Buyers beware.

You’re wrong. These phones have not been used.

(Please Note: I’m not employed by Woot, but I volunteer to help in the forums.)

New, Open Box

  • New, never used
  • Product has been opened to add, remove, or replace items such as warranty cards, user manuals, or accessories
  • Packaged in retail box or manufacturer brown box

If you receive an “open box” item that’s clearly been used, is already activated, you can contact Customer Service.

Hello there. Open box doesn’t necessarily mean used. Often times (not only at Woot), packages will be opened to remove/replace something in the package. Never used, just opened.

Please don’t hassle the other customers.

Actually it does, new means in an unopened box with a manufacturer warranty.

If you don’t want it, don’t buy it. This has been discussed enough. Thanks.
