We sell a lot of refurbished items here on Woot! These are items that have been inspected and restored to be fully functioning.
Refurbished items come in varying conditions from “like new” to “scratch-n-dent”. Sometimes the various conditions can be confusing. So, in an effort to help explain and inform, here are the types of refurbs we sell.
Refurbished for Woot — These are products that are refurbished by our vendors or the manufacturers.
Amazon Pre-Owned Devices — This is for Amazon Devices such as Fire TV, Kindle, Echo, Ring, and Eero. These are used devices that have been tested to function properly.
Refurbished Products Glossary
Items that have been refurbished for sale on Woot come in varying conditions. The work is done by either the manufacturer, a designated company, or a 3rd-party vendor.
Pristine
- Like-new condition. Never used by a customer
- Packaged in retail box, special box, or plain brown box
- Warranty: Vendor warranty OR Woot! Warranty
Factory Reconditioned (aka Certified Refurbished, Manufacturer Refurbished, Certified Preowned)
- Like-new condition. No visible scratches, dings, or dents when held at arm’s length
- Refurbished by the original manufacturer or a certified partner
- Packaged in retail box or plain brown box
- Warranty: Manufacturer warranty OR Woot! Warranty
- Comparable to “Premium Renewed” on Amazon.com
Grade A Refurbished
- Close to new condition. No visible scratches, dings, or dents when held at arm’s length
- Refurbished by a 3rd party vendor (not the manufacturer)
- Usually packaged in a plain brown box unless otherwise noted
- Warranty: Vendor warranty OR Woot! Warranty
- Comparable to “Renewed Excellent” on Amazon.com
Refurbished (aka Grade B)
- Moderate level of wear-and-tear including but not limited to scratches, dents, and dings
- Refurbished by a 3rd party vendor
- Usually packaged in a plain brown box unless otherwise noted
- Warranty: Vendor warranty OR Woot! Warranty
- Comparable to “Renewed Good” on Amazon.com
Refurbished Scratch & Dent (aka Grade C)
- Shows wear-and-tear including but not limited to scratches, dents, and dings
- Refurbished by a 3rd party vendor
- Packaged in a plain brown box
- Warranty: Vendor warranty OR Woot! Warranty
- Comparable to “Renewed Acceptable” on Amazon.com
New, Open Box
- New, never used
- Product has been opened to add, remove, or replace items such as warranty cards, user manuals, or accessories
- Packaged in retail box or manufacturer brown box
- Warranty: Manufacturer OR vendor warranty OR Woot! Warranty
Open Box on Clearance
- Customer returns that have tested to be fully functional but some non-essential items may be missing from the box
- Reduced pricing with limited quantities
- Condition will be stated on the sale (e.g. “Refurbished, Open Box” or “Grade A Refurbished, Open Box”)
- Packaged in brown box, retail box, or manufacturer brown box
- Warranty: 30 day Woot! Warranty
Amazon Pre-Owned Devices
Amazon Refurbished (aka Amazon Renewed)
These units have been tested and verified by Amazon to be fully functional. They include the same accessories and in-box documentation as a new device. May have small cosmetic imperfections associated with regular use and be repackaged in a brown box.
