I have tried on 4 occasions to get support from customers service about being charged the wrong sales tax. The issue is multifold: I need a refund for the overcharges and the problem fixed for the future. As I am an elected local government official, I have an interest in the payment process being fixed for anyone else in my area, and for the sales tax to go to right entities. I provided the state website that shows the correct tax rates.
Non-responses I have received to my support requests:
No response, so I restated all that in the next request and asked for a phone call.
Reply “no phone service is available but you can email us” and literally nothing else… which I’d already done, twice!
Third email “please provide use your tax exempt certificate” what in the world??? I said nothing about that!
No response
This is infuriating. So, I am at the point where I would ask our government attorney to draft a legal letter… but I have been a Wooter since 2008 with well over 100 woots… so thought I’d try here first.
Thank you for the update. To be clear, this only occurs with Woot and not with Amazon (same address/city/zip) or any other online seller I’ve used.
The problem is clearly that it is pulling from a different taxing area within the zip. There are 4 zones in the zip (2 municipalities (including mine) and 1 unincorporated area are all 6.375%, while 1 municipality is 8.875% which is what I’m being incorrectly taxed at by Woot’s processor). Other processors automatically resolve to the correct rate based on address.
