Outside the 14 eyes and no logs but I’ll still choose mullvad…
If I can’t connect from within the borders of a certain country, can I get a refund within the 30 days? I think that’s typical for VPNs but not sure if it’s part of the offer with Woot.
In a relatively recent change, they disabled outbound emails thru the VPN because someone somewhere figured out how to spam-bomb from behind the VPN. YMMV.
I like them, and if you don’t like THIS price, wait awhile and you’ll see some OTHER promotional discount… $45 for six devices for 1yr is not bad… Putting a VPN on your router SOUNDS like a good idea, but segregating out all those smart speakers and TVs and other smart stuff will be painful…
You’d have to read the details here (the listing says it has a 30-day warrantly through NordVPN):
(Please note: I don’t work for Woot, I just volunteer to help out here on the forums.)
Let’s hope PIA remains solid.
I just hope they continue with their “no logs” policy.
Same here, it has been proven before:
would be a massive mistake to change the business model now, the number of customers would catch the change very quickly i think, still my current vpn after almost 4 years now maybe even more jeez
Oh and nord has crazy BF sales too. Plus the Rakuten cash backs are like 60% or something silly like that
I’ve only ever wanted a VPN to see if vacation flights are cheaper if bought from outside the US. Otherwise, I’m a grandma at the internet, IDK what I’d use it for?
DMZ
Oh, sometimes some sites are blocked from certain locations. Say you want to see a free stream of something on YouTube but its blocked except to people in a location.
Or sometimes news sites are blocked so you need to appear to be in a different location.
It is a kind of specialized piece of software.
Yeah, I wanted to watch a movie once that was only streaming for free out of Canada at the time so I used a VPN to watch it because it was location-restricted. VPNs definitely can be useful.
It’s also good if you have an ISP that tracks what you do and where you go on the internet. VPNs that don’t keep logs can help protect your privacy. And if you ever use public wifi, it’s a good idea to use a VPN for safety reasons.
I’m fairly sure most VPNs do the same: you start the app and select a target server (i.e., gets to the geographically limited content). Then when you connect (via browser, TV, app, etc) ALL the data going from YOU to that server is encrypted and is not trivially visible.
Good to use for banking transactions…
