From go2marine.com, I would like to share the following.
Because of the unique nature of Inflatable PFD’s, they are not universally recommended for all water sports activities.
Inflatable PFDs are not recommended for non-swimmers; not for use for active watersports activities - skiing, tubing, wakeboarding, white water, or PWC
Finally, they require regular user checks and maintenance and are available in adult sizes only.
These are great for first responders who might have to enter the water to pull someone out. Not for non-swimmers but they will give a swimmer that extra “help” needed to recover someone who can’t help themselves. Just a thought.
Keep in mind that the manual inflatable is great if you plan on getting wet from time to time and don’t want the PFD to inflate just because you’re in the water.
Otherwise, an automatic version may be a better choice since it would automatically inflate even if you’re unconscious or otherwise incapacitated.
