Correct. You’ll be paying a premium for that, however. If you don’t need the speed, 4TB NVMe drives like the Crucial P3 can be had for less.
Depending on your computer, you might never see the speed anyway. My mini-PC’s M.2 slot is 3.0 x1 and I have several Haswell-era computers in which its M.2 slot is PCI-E 2.0 x4. The bus caps out at about 900 MB/s and 1.6GB/s respectively, which just about every modern drive controller can handle.
