Can these be easily used as headphones for TV output, so that I can shut off the tv speakers and listen solely through these? NOT for telephone, etc. The headphones I now have - one has physically broken - have a recharging cradle that connects, via RCA plugs, into the tv, and then the cradle broadcasts the audio signal out to the headphones. Those were wonderful, but they broke in half.
Your TV would have to output a Bluetooth signal. Most TVs do not have Bluetooth.
