I can’t help feeling that the peel coming down from the Y is supposed to be an apostrophe, so I can’t get on board.

Yep, I agree with the apostrophe. It’s stopping me from buying this shirt. I just checked as well in The Two Towers. In the chapter “Of Herbs and Stewed Rabbit,” Tolkien writes it as “Po-at-toes.”

So glad I"m not the only one. I saw the shirt and though, “Oh wow… wait, an apostrophe?” Dealbreaker.

Oh noooooo!!! It’s not supposed to be an apostrophe. It’s just a bit of falling peel. I can’t believe I didn’t notice it when I was drawing this!
