Let’s see if I can sum this up…
20 bottles of woot wine on the way…check
Ridiculously high cc bill from woot the past 30 days…check
Completely filled wine racks and wine fridge…check
Always a bridesmaid, never a rat…check
Celebrating the Year Of The Rat…check

In for one anyway…check

Even though I’ve already bought, I do have a couple of questions for the winemaker as regards to the pinot.

Any post-cold-soak maceration?
16 months aging in stainless steel?

Thanks!

After 2 corisons and a box of chocolates for my special lady friend, methinks thatguy will sit this week out…

Well I wooted. Again! That almost sounds dirty…

Anywho - Count me in to be a 'rat… I can’t beleive I just bought this, as my Rock Hollow just came on Friday…

Happy Monday everyone…grumble.

yah!

Looks like it’s going to be a great one for those who can have it shipped.

Time to write another round of letters to annoy those in office for me.

looks like there is a steady run on cs offerings of late. nice to try to try different profiles from both california and washington (helix) and will be interested to see if the winemaker participates to the same degree and insight as cathy last week as well as the lab rat results. another slightly lower alcohol cs than many recent releases.

even though some of these recent woots had other non cs/merlot components and its a good way to build up a cs/merlot collection, it’s fun when ps, pv, syrah, etc. enter into the picture. or port, sakei, etc…

when ya’ll try a wine you enjoy like corison do you ever order more or is woot just for variety?

Well. I’m a bargain hunter and since the woot wines are a lot more expensive when purchased elsewhere, my only repeat purchases have been when woot offers from that winery again, assuming I felt the QPR was good first time around. Examples that come to mind: Vino Noceto reds and Saxon Brown.

in for two! come ON LABRAT!!!

Oui, mon petite chou! In for one!

I don’t know about “dirty” but certainly inappropriate. Something my eight-year-old might say.

My fear on these new wineries as that they will turn out to be a Saxon Brown or Ty Canton … the type that make you kick yourself for missing them the first time around.

First wine.woot of 2008. My drinking partner being pregnant has really cut down my own consumption, so the cellar’s filling up. I may have just sneaked in before the labrat cutoff, though if it does turn up the wife may track down WD and beat him up in a hormonal rage, so might not be a good idea. Not that she’s missing wine much.

I’m in. (Again!) Blame it on “Smitty”!

I wandered around the winery’s website, and after I saw his picture I couldn’t resist. (Perhaps because I have 2 standard poodles?)

This represents why I purchase from wine.woot. A small boutique winery I wouldn’t otherwise be exposed to, an opportunity to try new wines at a great price, and a forum with which to learn from the owner/winemaker. Thanks!

Is there a joke I’m not getting at the end of today’s description? The part about a name for a restaurant run by a launderer.

I’m guessing it’s reference to The French Laundry, Thomas Keller’s Michelin three star restaurant in Napa Valley.

Thanks! World famous just isn’t enough publicity for me to hear about it I guess.

Unless I am mistaken, the Pinot listed on their website is 2004 and the Woot offer includes a bottle of the 2005 Pinot rather than the 2004.

Whatever the 2005 retails for–and it is probably a similar price to the 2004–this looks like a very good deal. Looking forward to labrat reports !

Woops. good catch. Bevmo has the 2001 cab for $40, whatever you want that to mean.

temecula wines, ha! highly questionable pinot

I have some inside information about Sadler Wells.

My wife and I took a trip to Napa/Somoma valley this last summer and we visited the Larson Family Winery, which was one of the highlights of our entire trip. Becky Larson (of Larson Family Winery) partnered up with someone else to produce the Sadler Wells brand, and they sold it at this winery and we purchased some to take back to Michigan (for $40-45 a bottle). In the tasting room the Sadler Wells cabernet was fantastic, one of the top 5 cabs we had while on our trip.

So there is a tight relationship between Sadler Wells and Larson Family Winery, which by the way, the Larson Family Winery won the “best cabernet of california” award when we were there last year. I think up until recently they used to sell the Sadler Wells brand from their website:

I cannot speak for the PInot, but the Cabs should be fantastic based on the tasting we did at Larson Family.

In for 2.

Wow, great deal! In for 1.
