Good deal. Fun item. Great present for a STEM type person. Advice: Put it together slowly and carefully. Don’t over-tighten anything.

I’m loving my SainSmart x Creality Ender-3 3D Printer! I’ve had it for not quite two months and still enjoying it! I (perhaps unfortunately) found a thingiverse.com which has bookoos of objects to print!
And this price is excellent! I paid $5 more (on Amazon) when it was on sale back in September.

Is this the Ender 3 or the Ender 3x ?

The “x” after sainsmart in the name is throwing me off.

@Checker thanks for that website!

This seems to be the same one for $24 less

The problem with that .shop site is you may get it in a week or you may get it next year, they are unreliable

This is the Creality Ender-3. It’s just branded with SainSmart’s name. If you go to youtube to find help putting it together, look for Creality Ender-3, not the Pro and not V2.

The prints are frame and magazine, etc… Parts under stress are generally metal. The FCG-9 is an extremely interesting piece of engineering and development.

I just purchased this as a Christmas gift, can any filament be used or are there specific sizes to each machine?

For the most part, starting out, use PLA. I started out using Hatchbox PLA, and kept with it.

A roll will last you some time.

PETG is a little more finicky, and ABS would require higher temps and a higher rated heating element.

Nylon, carbon fiber, and TPE are way out in left field and need upgrades to handle.

The printer does do PLA Wood pretty nice.

I picked mine up at woot last black friday, and have been using it off and on for a darn near full year. It’s fun. At most only chucked in another $50 for upgraded components (amazon upgrade kit and fancier mainboard), and $60 for a sainsmart yurt for it.
