Saitek Eclipse II Illuminated Keyboard

I already have one, slightly different model. It is that great. I watch TV and use my HTPC in the dark mostly, illumination helps. Halfway decent key feel, not like an Apple Extended Keyboard II, of course. But much better than the POS Dell freebie I have at work.

this is a review on the keyboard

Sorry, it would have to be glowing and ergonomic to be dorky enough for me.

43.60 @ Amazon

do the backlights come in three colors or can it change colors? and if it comes in three colors… is the woot a random selection?

I try to order and you iknow what… the site denys my card … tried 3x

i guess all the times ive looked on this site have been pointless

all it says is “order denied” cant tell me why or anything.

This is a great keyboard. Looks good with the lights, comfortable to type with and and excellent game keyboard. I just bought a 2nd one for the office.

Would be nice if it was wireless. I dont think its worth 40 bucks (including shipping) for a wired one.

will go nicely with my logitech g15.

now to see if this guy crashes planetside like the first eclipse did.

I don’t know about ergonomic as such - I threw away the wrist rest from the previous one I got here Way Back When. On the other hand, the knobbly-corners are fairly handy to grab onto when the keyboard is on the floor and you are on the couch and you don’t want to accidentally punch any buttons. All told, I’ve found my blue-backlit Eclipse to be pretty decent.

Very positive review on Extremetech…

Getting the same thing here.

dude!! and to think that i bought a first-edition Eclipse a few months ago! i think i’m going to go check ebay and see how much i can sell it for. this is a deal.

Yeah, except that’s not true.

Anyone know if the wrist pad is detachable? Not one for the whole wrist gel/comfort pad type dealies.

Would otherwise most likely get one.
I’m a sucker for light up gizmos

nearly all apple (mac) laptops have had fiber-optic keyboards since 2003…not biggie here.

this is by far the best keyboard i have ever touched in my life - im typing on one right now

i bought a regular Eclipse (red) about 2 months ago for $45
an Eclipse II for $40 is a steal!

Looks nice but all of my computing is done via notebook… sigh

Works just fine on a Mac. Volume controls even work.

And to someone else who asked:
Yes, the backlight can be turned off. Assuming this model is like mine, it has 2 brightness levels and Off. There is a dedicated button for the backlight.
