[quote user=“GymNazi”][quote user=“BlindWilly”][quote user=“ariburton”]Hey everyone, if you are like me, WOOT I’m a lowlife spammer and cant think of anything original to spam about…
Hmm…I saw on a couple places where they say the lighting is “cool cathode blue LED.”
Not quite sure what they mean by that, but changing the color could be SLIGHTLY (only slightly) more difficult to change the color.
Damn damn damn damn I want this!
After the first Mac laptops introduced this, I’v been writing letters to computer part manufacturers telling them they NEED to make keyboards like this, and that I myself would pay $75 for one. And of course, now they come out when i am completely and utterly broke.
The only other ones like this used to be the steel-cased ones with red lighting for police cars…for $300.
This item kicks so much ass it’s not even funny…damn.
Anyone know if you can add the “gamer pad” to this one if I found on on ebay?
I have the other model of this keyboard – black keys on silver. It’s a great keyboard – they actually got it right. Love the slope and feel of the keys, and of course it gets lots of comments. I think I prefer my color scheme, but I can tell you this keyboard works and feels great.
people - i know some people might not like these - but that doesn’t mean they are made for only this use or that use (in response to the person who said learn how to type so you don’t need lightly keys) - for him - i say ha - i type at close to 100 wpm (note i don’t type always correctly - but i do know where all the keys are and can type with my eyes closed - its not that hard.
I am buying one because it will go great with my black computer case with blue led fans with window in my living room that i use for my spare computer - it is an mp3 server - the monitor needs to be spraypainted black to match the rest of my livingroom - and then it will be very sweet
This keyboard will also match my black mousepad with a blue led illuminated trim (people always compliment it)
it always drives them crazy when they check out my computer with its 14,000 mp3s (soon to hit 30,000 lol - i am still a newbie to mp3 collections)
the keyboard will be used mainly for show.
i had considered purchasing a black keyboard and illuminating it using optical fiber and some led’s.
with 4 or 5 led’s you can do a cheap led backlighting for a keyboard.
heck - for $20 total - i completely redid the entire illumination of my 1998 blazer in blue and white led’s - entire dash glows a true blue - nice match to my charcoal gray interior.
its amazing what you can do for a cheap price.
converting it to red or green led’s may not be AS easy as people say - because blue led’s run at a 4 volt input usually. and red led’s run at 2 volts - meaning you are going to need to resolder not only the led’s - but also the resistors - or at least add in a resitor to step down the voltage and mAmps to a level suiteable for your red led’s (you wouldn’t want to spend 2 hours redoign all the led’s with red - only to burn them out 2 weeks later!!!)
the word ‘cathode’ refers to the hue of the color - not the illumination used is suspect.
I am very excited and can’t wait to replace my ugly old white keyboard i have had for 7 years lol
Wow, this keyboard is pretty. Not quite pretty enough for me to take out on a date (i.e. buy it), though. I already have a decent keyboard (after 4 tries): a MS cordless combo thingy that I got on clearance at Target for ~20. It works great, even with my KVM, and I don’t have to worry about the cats trying to eat the wires. Anyway, I’m glad to see a good run of techy items. Now, if we could just get a shipment of projector screens, we’d be all good. (Can’t find $5 shipping on a screen anywhere, woot spoils us)
