When oh gods of WOOT, when will I get shipping to Alaska as an option. USPS is cheap and easy, please get something worked out for AK.
[quote user=“mbuchman”]Woot should have another woot at 12 every day, because many of these woots have not been for me, and I would like to double my odds of an impulse buy,

YEAH
About wireless keyboards… they’re a security risk. They may not be for those of you who do NOTHING BUT GAME, but some of us have real lives where we check our bank accounts and post to government overthrow websites… just kidding about that last… oh shit
Yeah, there’s a risk that someone comes within ten feet of my wireless keyboard and captures the keystrokes. Hmmm… Yeah, I’m willing to take that risk, considering that person would have to be inside my apartment for it to happen. At that point, they could just steal my pc.
would have bought it if it was wireless.
I don’t know about MS products, but my wonderful Logitech MX Duo has the ability to encrypt all communication between the keyboard and the receiver. I don’t have the proper type of sniffer to determine whether it actually does what it says it does, but if you need peace of mind, that’s pretty good. A nice thing is although their driver that activates the encryption is only for Windows, once activated you don’t need the driver and it will work securely in Linux or anything else, even if the batteries die (though don’t leave it too long without battery power or it will lose its encryption settings).
That said, I bought one of these. I’m not replacing my MX duo (I don’t think) - I really like all the quick access buttons and wheel volume adjust. But it’ll be great as a spare, for if the keyboard (or its batteries) die and I don’t have replacements available. On the other hand, my 1.6 Terabyte Direct Connect server / media centre could use a nice keyboard. Too bad this baby isn’t wireless or I’d have bought a couple.
Incidentally, does anyone know if a device exists which can convert a USB device (like this keyboard) into wireless? Something like a set of 2 USB plugs, one for the computer and one for the device, maybe?

I got one… but I thought that the adapters didn’t do the power to light up the KB?
I’m in the process of wiring up my house and I’m going to move the server in the spare bedroom anyway. I’ll put this ps2 board with it and use this new one on my nice and shiny (and lit up) main box. ![]()

Here’s another and get this… he ordered 6 from his “supplier”, so get the Woot detectives on this dual account scammer. lol, though I’d bet it’s a family member or friend for the second account so there’s not much that can be done.
