Saitek Eclipse Illuminated Key & Backlit Keyboard
I am typing in the dark wishing I had one of these. BUT

 Not MAC compatible

:? :? Not LINUX compatible

:o NOT WIRELESS!!

NO SALE
Why wouldn’t it be compatible with those? It looks like a standard USB keyboard to me. Or is it the same problem that has long prevented me from using LINUX… lack of drivers for most of the stuff I have?

My main keyboard is wireless, so I at first didn’t plan to buy this one. But then I started thinking about how my wireless keyboard is always sitting in the same spot which is about 1.5 feet from the nearest USB port on my computer. Plus this keyboard looks cool and matches the blue LEDs on the front of my case, so it’s worth trying out.

I recently purchased the silver backlit Saitek, and I’ll be returning it as soon as this arrives. It’s a solid keyboard with nice action on the keys.

damn, I was in such a hurry thinking this was a woot-off (confusing those rockets for lights) that I didn’t realize this was the one WITHOUT the control pad.

Still a good deal, though, just not QUITE as good as I thought it was. I needed to replace my old KB anyway…

I’ve used the other Saitek gaming keyboard just fine on Mac and Linux systems. The only problem you could run into is that the sound control buttons might not work. Typing should be no problem. Of course, since this is a PC keyboard, the numeric keypad has one fewer button than a Mac’s.

What’s with all the complaints about this keyboard not being wireless? It’s a gamers’ keyboard. What gamer is gonna use a wireless keyboard at a LAN party?

According to the review at Tom’s Hardware, gamers weren’t using the control pad. I wasn’t using it and I found it annoying that it wasn’t USB so I could use it with another keyboard if I wanted to do so.

The Eclipse is arguably the better of the two keyboards because its lighting actually shines through the laser-etched letters and numbers on the keys.

You only get one pair of eyes in this life, and it’s positively scandalous the way you’ve been treating yours. All those late nights at the computer with the monitor the only light in the room, straining to make out the characters on the keys…you’d better be studying how to clone ocular tissue, because the way you’re going, you’ll need a replacement set of eyes before too long.

Or you could save yourself some bother and get the Eclipse illuminated keyboard from Saitek. The cool futuristic styling makes you feel like you’ve been hurtled ahead in time to the year 2482, but that’s not all. Check this out: in bright light, the blue-light characters look dark on the reflective silvertone keys. Then turn the lights off and they twinkle brightly against the keys, which take on a dark hue. No strain, no pain – we’re pretty sure it’s not magic, but it might as well be for all we know.

Take a look at this quote from a man who likes to look at things: “There’s never been more to look at than there is now, and the quantity and quality of visual experience in our world is only getting better. Don’t miss out!” If you want to keep using your powers of vision with ease and pleasure, invest in the Eclipse today. When it comes to your eyesight, how can you afford not to?

Not really a hot price …lowest on froogle is $45 shipped.

I must say, it’s a hot looking keyboard though. Just wish it was closer to a $25 or less range. :?

The real problem with using this on a Mac is that the Apple/Command and Option keys will be reversed. Where Mac keyboards have the bottom row of keys go Control/Option/Apple, this will function as Control/Apple/Option. It’s not really that hard to adjust to, but it hurts going back and forth between a backwards keyboard and a normal one.

WOOT!

First thing i’ve purchased from you here after months of seeing great deals that were always sold out by the time i got there.

My first purchase, and i got the last one!

If someone really wanted to, they could turn this person in to eBay “authorities.” It is a violation of eBay policy to put something up for sale that you do not currently possess. This policy is not absolute, though, and you can usually get around it by saying it will be delivered within 30 days of close of the auction.

http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/pre-sale.html

If nothing else, having a bunch of people alert eBay about the same person, especially on a few different items, will cause eBay to send the person an email, warning him or her.

Hey, my first woot and first post all the same day.

Ok, i almost got two but then i realized they had to be lit up by the USB port…
I have a KVM switch so that i can work between my server, desktop and whatever two other projects i’m working on… and it only does PS2…
Oh well
SWEET woot though, i’d LOVE one of those!
They have adapters for that. USB –> PS2.
I got one… but I thought that the adapters didn’t do the power to light up the KB?
I’m in the process of wiring up my house and I’m going to move the server in the spare bedroom anyway. I’ll put this ps2 board with it and use this new one on my nice and shiny (and lit up) main box. :D
Hmmm… good point. I tried using the adapter on my USB mouse that is lit up and it worked but I don’t know if it would work for a keyboard since all the LEDs may take more juice.

Either way, you’ve already come up with a solution and got in on the deal it sounds like.

I’m tempted to reverse the keys just to see if I can do it. While we’re pointing out differences, let’s not forget that Mac keyboards say “delete” and “return” instead of “backspace” and “enter”.

I got a warning when I placed the order, but it hasn’t been canceled…

Thanks

Here’s another and get this.. he ordered 6 from his “supplier”, so get the Woot detectives on this dual account scammer. lol, though I’d bet it’s a family member or friend for the second account so there’s not much that can be done.
