Who in their right mind would buy this? Crucial 4tb sata are like $169 everyday. This needs to be marked down to like $75 to be worth it.
Woot prices are so absurdly High and far fetched compared to the rest of the world.
Hi there. These are being obtained from Amazon inventory so we don’t have a lot of information. Here it is on Amazon:

The stuff that we get from Amazon comes to us as a percentage of the original cost. Not sure what that was but this was selling for $1000 not too long ago.
Hi there, and welcome.
This price is actually not bad, given what this drive is… If you’re at all familiar with enterprise grade equipment, or even versed in home lab servers with ZFS or similar file systems, this SSD is within the ranks of the Seagate Nitro, or WD Red SATA SSDs, and approaching some of the utility of the Intel 3DXPoint models. They’re not exact equivalents, but where they differ from most consumer drives is simply that they have specialized hardware for their memory controllers, and additional resilience for more extreme workloads, such as being a write cache for a NAS or server. They will not run at the cutting edge of speed, like any consumer m.2 NVMe, but that isn’t their point - It’s durability to withstand heavier daily use from multiple users with more sustained writes than most drives are meant to withstand.
There are obviously better deals for the typical consumer users, who often read far more than they write. In those cases, please don’t even worry about this - Buy your Crucial, WD, Samsung drives, and be content that it will likely serve you perfectly for many years.
Cheers!
