I’ve bough sennheiser phones for the last three years. Every pair I’ve bough from them have been quality sound and a somewhat affordable price. Clear base, not overly loud. Perfect for hearing every note a band plays. From the shredding guitars to every little cymbal tap of a drummer.

Having used wires headphones in the past, I don’t know how the wireless compares directly to mine (HD429) but if you like sound quality, you’ll love sennheisers.

One of the best purchases I’ve ever made. I bought mine about 12 years ago and use it daily. I replaced the ear pads and the batteries a couple of years ago, so I should be good for a while.

Not too long ago I gave one to my mother so that she doesn’t have to waste her hearing aid battery watching tv at night. She loves it.

Note that if there’s no sound transmitting for a few minutes (e.g. you pause your music, but leave the headphones on), the base station stops transmitting, which means the headphones blare loud static into your ears. Nobody has ever been able to explain to me why this “feature” exists; the base station is plugged in, so it’s not saving battery power, and the battery-powered headphones stay on. As long as you’re going to have continuous sound these are great, but I regret buying them to this day

I have had a set of Tr130’s for years. Range is somewhere around 200 feet for me. Top shelf stuff.

Don’t know if they still are, but made in Germany is definitely an improvement over China.

They use the same hardware in the base stations with different headphones. Some of the other headphones if not all of the other headphone models, such as the hdr-130, automatically shut off after a few minutes when there’s no signal and never output static due to the lack of a signal. The 120s that we have here today are the cheap model.

Once again, crying that they’re not the HD 518’s that I missed…
I stare at the Amazon page, telling myself, “Maybe they’ll come on Woot again… maybe I won’t have to pay $80…”

To at least add something constructive, I’ve got a friend who has these exact headphones and he loves them…almost unhealthily. I’m not a fan of wireless, but he swears by 'em.

Not such a deal. Selling for $65 at B&H Camera and Tiger Direct. Even less on that large “auction” site.

[MOD: Per other wooters:]

I have sworn by Sennheiser wired headphones for years – make it decades. Unless we’re talking about specialty gear or much higher price range, Senns are the best for my money.

I have the 160 model for wireless convenience. The sound compares to other headphones in the “HD” line. The 160s have the flaw that although the DC adapter charges the headphones, it doesn’t charge the portable base. This won’t be a problem with the 120s’ non-portable base.

Sound quality is good – I have never noticed problems with the sound that were not (afaik) issues from the source (e.g. streaming video). Keep in mind, if this is a big upgrade for you, there will be a marked difference in what you hear and this may include imperfections in the audio from the source – don’t blame the headphones for that!

However, I get a buzz in mine. While the intensity of the buzz varies depending on location/distance, it seems to be there most of the time. Not sure why, and it is usually very quiet, but it’s there. For the price, it’s not a turn-off. But it is an imperfection. I suspect any of the HD wireless line will have this issue.

Overall though I’d still give my 160s (and thus the 120s by proxy) an A, 90%, 4.5/5, etc.

Those are expansion headphones; no base station/charger.

I will never forgive myself for missing that Woot!

Those prices at B&H and TD are for expansion headphones only and no charging/receiver cradle. Full headphone/cradle set is $100 at both places.

Exactly - you beat me to it.
P.S. I love my 120s - I can walk around the entire yard while I’m unhappily doing outdoor chores and am able to enjoy listening to an audio book, a ball game or music. Great reproduction, surprisingly good bass for this price. Wireless headsets like these are so nice!

I don’t think I have a small head but these, even on their smallest size would slide right off my head. I have a pair in 2005 or so of this model, coming from a pair of Panasonic wireless that sounded terrible and had even worse range. These sound just like wired headphones and the range was incredible, but I can’t forget that they kept sliding off my head whenever I looked down or up.

EDIT:
Also, the charging posts started to not charge after a year or so, I cleaned them off but seems like the contacts where it is metal to metal on the stand got worse after about a year.

I’ve had my 130’s for several years now, and love them. The rechargeable batteries are standard AAA rechargeables, so if the batteries die out on me, I just immediately swap out them out for another set of rechargeables and keep on going (and then can recharge the used set in my La Crosse charging station). I barely ever use the base station for charging purposes anymore.

Well I own 2 of these and 1 other higher end RS170 version. I like the RS120 for their budget price I bought them for ($50 shipped). They can slip off easier than some due to the flat surface. The issue with the static is a NON ISSUE. What most do NOT setup correctly is their gain volume from the source. If your source volume is too low then you must crank up the volume ON THE ACTUAL HEADPHONES so then when you pause your TV or music for too long they will turn off. Well if your volume dial is cranked up then the sound is really loud. Usually this means you are turning these up way to far. I run these off my Media PC and I simply turn the volume to max 50 on the PC and use a very low setting on the actual headphones, loud static hiss that turns on after a while with no sound is now not that loud. Also this will help your sound quality, the louder your turn up the dial on the headphones the more hiss you get in the background, so avoid feeding these cans low source volumes and you will avoid poor sound quality and loud static noise when source stops for too long.

Also these work great with multiple RS120’s. I have the base unit hooked up in the bedroom and living room. We can easily tune into either base station with a simple twist of the tune dial. Works great for when the kids are sleeping and we both want to listen to something at either location. Interference has never been a issue and I have 5 cordless phones, two routers and massive neighbor wifi around so the 900mhz works great for the needed use.

I have been waiting for my favorite online retailer for PC parts to have these again at $50 shipped. This isn’t a great deal, average at best.
