Nothing is as serene as angry blue pixies and molten steel.
For what it’s worth, I’m pretty sure this unit was in one of Project Farm’s lineups.
Anyone use this gadget or something similar as a beginner welder (without gas?). I was thinking of learning to weld and don’t want to get into professional level welding…just home projects/fun things …
Same here. I looked it up for non amazon reviews and commentary and it appears to be a decent setup, though most showed it using argon or didn’t speak to the non gas mode much at all. I wish the starter kit also came with a spool of wire as well.
I’d love to hear from experienced users. This seems like a good deal.
Mine showed up a few days ago and I got it set up today. I got ONE spark and a dot of weld and it will not longer create an arc. So, either it’s defective or something else is wrong. I have no idea how to get help for it. I sent an email to woot! so I’ll see what they have to say.
A friend said it could have blown a fuse, but I see no fuses or fuse enclosures nor any reference in the breakout schematic.
OK, I admit it… I’m a moron. Well, 100% newb… so I’ll cut myself some slack. I assumed that the wire touching was enough to close the circuit, so I wasn’t pressing the trigger (after that one blip). So, mea culpa. Now it only looks like trash because I suck. That I can fix.
