Best to get a duel hose unit. See Technology Connection’s video on these for more details

Never had a floor AC unit before. Is this thing worth getting? I’m sick of window units.

Portable AC units are nice in that they aren’t a big chunky thing sticking out your window (instead you end up with a chunky thing sitting on your floor). However, they have their own pros and cons…
They create negative pressure unless you get a dual hose model. You also have to either attach a permanent drainage hose or remember to manually drain the condensation (newer models don’t require draining as they use it for unit cooling or something). It also requires floor space for the unit and clearance for hoses and such.

We have a portable AC in our bedroom (single hose unit). Our house has perfectly fine central system but we prefer bedroom cooler at night for sleeping… we can’t use standard window units because we have security bars attached to our home and don’t have clearance required. Therefore the portable unit works perfect. (If you do get one I recommend you insulate the hose(s) and the window panel along with seal the window panel edges with foam).
Its just a matter of what works best for your specific needs.

Edit: i recommend a youtube video about them by “Technology Connections”. He tells all about them.

Having 6 portable units and a Flir Camera, as for the exhaust heat Single hose , not the ones with the Dual hoses in one… here is the answer…

Do not buy these off of amazon, BTW. they are not Genuine, nor do they work. They will use DeLongi’s Picture then send you some Chinese Copy.

I should have said pictures the Flir took lol. Pretty neato. Back in the energy crisis of the 70s, our city hired someone to fly over and take heat pictures of our houses. Pretty nifty.

they are defiantly worth the money. I used it to diagnose engines, heat loss, electronics… the list goes on and on… will snap a pic and show that the hose cover is def the hot tip…

Did they have color photos back in the 1970s? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

with unit running hose covered …

Without the cover… and the “white areas” are even hotter!

I think they were B&W but super high resolution. They were mounted on the inside walls of the downtown library. They were yuge.

Note: NOT a factory refurb. Don’t count on beyond 90 days. If you buy, test right away.
