Wellington Vineyards Mixed Estate Reds (4)

Yet another Wellington deal I’d love to buy, but can’t. If only NJ was on the nice list, I’d be many hundred dollars poorer and many glasses happier over the last several months…

A couple of questions.
What happened to the alc. on the Grenache? I’m not used to seeing your wines in the 15% range.

And what’s in the field blend?
Edit: Never mind, I just en’saw it in the description and it sounds very tasty. What’s the age ability of the blend?

Grenache and Zinfandel are two grapes that often aren’t ripe in cool climates until they’re at 14.5 or higher potential alcohol. Our Grenache has always been in the 14.5-15.5 range. Chateauneuf du Pape (Grenache based) has the highest minimum sugar requirement at harvest of any French appellation at 14 beaume (potential alcohol of 14+.
The field blend is relatively soft, and probably the least age-able of these four wines.

In great company. In for 3. First time I order 3 of anything.

Hi. How many cases of each were produced?

All 3 have track records of evolving well for 7-10 years and holding beyond that.

We made a pact that we were on a SIWBM, so we were staying strong… but then came Peter Wellington and his
December Mystery Case
February Anti-Mystery Case
March Random 1/2 Cases
March Victory & Revelry 2 packs
April Random 1/2 Cases…
and now this.

Good thing we are strong…

Dammit! Those Wellington vines in front of the tasting room hold a very special place in our hearts (and the wine makes it even better).

In for 3!

'Twould have been fitting for you to be the last wooter of the day. Bookends, as it were.

My poor wine cellar is bursting at the seams. But I can resist an opportunity to purchase some more of Wellington’s excellent wine. I’ve been happy with the last few offerings and I believe this one will be as well.

We will miss you Peter!

Any back-door way to get this interesting 4 pack to CT?

Up until last year, I used to order Wellington to CT all the time.

I often woot-leg to NH but that is out too…

Still time, and one more to go.
If this isn’t a SO first.

I missed a lot of these previous offers…darn woot-offs! So, in for a case on this one.

Can someone tell me, is it possible to order more separately, as a gift. I am interested in 3 orders for myself, but I’d like to get one, for a deserving relative  I don’t see a way of doing that. Thanks!

As a disclaimer I know nothing about wine. Other than I like drinking it. I bought 12 bottles of Wellington a month or so ago when it came up because everyone here went ape and it seemed like I’d better.

So, today I am thinking about another 12 bottles or so and had been leaning toward one of the Cameron Hughes in the same price range. For those with direct comparison is Wellington just that much more worth it?

Field Blend 303
Grenache 187
Syrah 278
Zinfandel 261

Geez, now you’re breaking all the rules!

I’m biased, so I can’t make any comments about relative quality. I’ll let others do that if they wish. Cameron Hughes is negociant wine, i.e. they buy other wineries’ “left-overs” from all over California, blend and bottle them. These Wellington wines are all Estate grown in Sonoma Valley, include fruit from ancient vines and are hand crafted in small batches by winemakers with decades of experience.

Yowza! My relative isn’t THAT deserving :)! But that’s great, now I can get a total of 4 orders including my own, anyway. Thanks.

Peter not sure if you are near the packing and shipment but since this is your last vintage bottling a few randomly signed bottles would make for a nice Willy Wonka reward.

Ha, given that WD just upped the limit to 6… You could do a lot of damage, trying to be the last wooter to woot.
