Wrong Kindle Delivered

I ordered a white 2019 kindle basic when the deal dropped the other day, and my order arrived quickly! (within 3 days). However, I was disappointed to unbox a black kindle? I then noticed the box said something about paperwhite, which, if it was a newer one or similar release date to my basic, I would have been ok with the mistake.

But I checked the device info and it showed that I was sent a 7th gen paperwhite 2014! I ordered a 5 year old device, not a 10 year old one. I’m so disappointed… and I’m waiting on customer service to reply. Hopefully this hasn’t happened to everyone that ordered the same model :frowning: I was so excited to set up my kindle today :sob:

Please reach out to Woot! Customer Service. To speed things up, let them know if you prefer a return/refund or a replacement (if possible).

Please allow 24-48h for them to respond.

Browser: Use the Woot! Customer Service form.

Woot! App: Choose Account from the bottom navigation and then Support.

Self-Return: Items without Li-Ion batteries can be self-returned within 30 days. Go to your Order Details to get started. The return label will be emailed from UPS.

Note: Woot! Customer Service replies go to the email address on your Woot! account, not your Amazon login email if used/different.

I already reached out to customer service and am waiting on a reply… It’s just a bad first experience buying from woot, if I’m just going to get the wrong item, older device and different color/capacity, it doesn’t give me confidence that future orders are worth it.

I have purchased over 500 items from Woot over a period of 10 years or so. Of my purchases, only one has left a bad taste in my mouth – I couldn’t get them or rather UPS to help me send back an item that was too heavy for me to lift. (But it was my fault for not reading the fine print about the item.)

Of those 500 purchases, probably over a dozen have been of various kinds of Kindles. All were good purchases received as Woot described them. Unfortunately for you, your purchase was one of those, “Oops, we (Woot) screwed up!” But fortunately for you, Woot will correct it. So don’t worry; just give them a little time. They certainly didn’t do this on purpose.

I’ve made over 700 purchases over 17 years, and I like this place well enough to become a volunteer moderator on the forums. Woot is a great place but mistakes happen, just like with any other business.

I’m sorry your first Woot ended up being a Woot Oops. They do happen from time to time. The good news is Woot’s customer service it’s full of good people. They’ll have options for you.

If you use gmail, you’ll want to watch your spam folder. Gmail doesn’t like emails from Woot.

If one of the options you pick involves a return label, that’ll come from UPS and not Woot. They sometimes end up in the spam folder too.
