we bought a few zinus twelve inch mattresses (2018, 2020). No complaints yet. We have never taken off the original cover (why would anyone do that?? don’t do that.). We have actual additional covers for the beds, and we tend to use thick flannel sheets. Mine has retained its shape and still provides support. I do use a box spring under it but I placed the carboard from the box between the two to distribute the weight more evenly. works great. Some results may vary. I guess it has a cooling effect?
we gave each mattress 5 days to re-inflate, and left them completely unbothered the whole time, just to be safe. I can’t stress that enough. patience pays off.
And for the opposing non-patient viewpoint I present this:
I bought this January 6th, 2923 and it was delivered January 10th, 2023 and sat. And sat, and sat, and sat some more in my climate controled living room.
I finally set up the bed frame and unpacked the mattress this morning. It’s been about 6 hours and the thing is fully expanded.
It feels nice, doesn’t stink, and I’m getting ready to take a nap on it!
