I purchased a 10" gel foam queen size mattress from WOOT in June 2017 that is still my main bed today. It was medium firmness and it felt just a bit too firm initially so I added a 3" gel foam topper. But, being my first foam bed I didn’t realize it would soften up some over time. A few years ago it was too soft so I removed the topper and found the mattress alone was softer and now just right for me. I’m a 6’ 170 lb. man and a side sleeper. I can’t be happier with a bed for which I paid so little. I rotate it regularly. Mine is 2.5" of gel foam on top and 7.5" of support foam below, slightly different than this one. This is just an FYI posting FWIW of one person’s experience. I figured I’d give it a try because it was so inexpensive I thought if it was only satisfactory for a couple years it would be a win. I’m now 6 years in and will probably replace it in another year or two.
I, too, buy cheap firmer foam mattresses and then a softer cooling gel foam topper. The topper may develop canyons as it breaks down, but then just replace the topper and the mattress is still good.
Never again buy a $1000-$3000 mattress!
