Not sure if there is anyone who can update the listing, but it looks like the pointless price is from the performance AA batteries (black bands) where as the ratings and pictures match with high capacity (grey bands).
At one time or another, it was probably correct but now it’s pointless.
Yeah the pointless price savings had me. I was so close to buying these.
Ditto

Sure this is a slight discount than the price on Amazon which is $14.20 ($2.21 more than the Woot deal). The listed price on Amazon isn’t $29.99. It’s a good deal. Not a great deal… would have been a great deal if it was less than half the price like it’s made to look like comparing $29.99 to $11.99. So if it was priced at $4.00 to $5.00…
I just compare the cost at about $1/battery with $0.25/battery for Alkaline, and the fact that these have similar capacity and can be recharged several hundred times. Since I have a number of solar “generators”, and live in FL, it’s a very useful alternative to have if power goes out.
ymmv
I have seen Amazon price of $18.27 for 8, so I bought 12 for $11.99 on Woot thinking what a great deal only to find out later that 12 on Amazon go for $14.20. Just doesn’t make sense, 12 batteries cheaper than 8?
This is a decent deal, $12 Batteries for 12.
The last two times I bought these batteries in Amazon the price was $12 for 8 batteries.
Remind me what a good charger for these are? I tried looking through previous comment sections but canxt find the suggestion
This is the second batch of these 2400 mAH Amazon basics batteries that I’ve bought.
I bought the first batch last year from Amazon proper and tested them on my Cadex professional battery analyzer. They all passed at over 100% of rated capacity, which is very good. Some of the other big-name battery brands I’ve tested do not meet their own specs, and almost none of the random lesser-known brands do (cough looking at you, EBL cough).
I’ll run all of this second batch through testing too, but I’m optimistic these are good quality and a good buy.
I noticed that Amazon (or Woot) charged me sales tax on the combined price of the item + shipping.
Are we always paying sales tax on the shipping, too?
Yes
When I asked, I was referring to purchases made on Woot. I assume your reply refers only to purchases made on Woot, right or not?
I have never paid tax on shipping for any purchase made on eBay, for example. I can check past items purchased on Amazon and other sites, to compare.
Here’s a screen shot of my recent purchase on eBay:

(Hoping it uploads correctly - can’t see it from here.)

Most mail order places collect taxes for each states rate. Taxes usually include both item price and shipping x your state tax rate.
I just now looked up sales tax rules for California (where I live) and found the following seems to apply here (emphasis is mine). There are a few exceptions, but none that apply here:
California: For the most part, shipping charges are exempt from California sales tax if the sale is exempt. If the sale is taxable, delivery-related charges may be nontaxable, partially taxable, or fully taxable.
In general, delivery-related charges for taxable products are not taxable when you ship directly to the purchaser via common carrier, contract carrier, or USPS; delivery, shipping, freight, or postage charges are separately stated; and the charge isn’t greater than the actual cost of delivery.
Here’s the link where I found the information about sales tax:
https://www.avalara.com/blog/en/north-america/2022/02/how-to-handle-sales-tax-on-shipping-a-state-by-state-guide.html
That rate is like 7.8% . I’m not sure what the sales tax rate is there.
Your wish has come true. Woot’s price is now less than half of Amazon’s making it a great deal again.
It looks like there was a brief price break earlier.
It varies from state to state. We do not separate shipping and handling charges.
