Kickass deal.
My wife MAY shoot me, because I just replaced her “died PC” with a SFF PC w/dual HDMI, 4K, UHD ports and dual-band 2.4 and 5G WiFi. We may ALL wind up camping in her office space…
Going to have to check out what is available at the local no-shipping-required box stores first.
Which version is this one?
How “used” are they?
Woot is owned by Amazon but is it considered “outside of Amazon” by Asurion?
From the FAQ from the Amazon sale page for individual TV coverage:
"Your product is eligible for coverage even if purchase outside of Amazon as long as:
- The protection plan is purchased within 30 days of the product purchase date. ** Please note, that you will be required to provide a copy of the purchase receipt for the product you wish to cover.
- The product is new with no pre-existing conditions.
- The product comes with an eligible manufacturer warranty within the United States.
- The product is not used for commercial purposes (multi-user organizations), public rental or communal use in multi-family housing."
These TV’s aren’t new so does that affect coverage?
My local store has 4k 65" for $299. You will probably find similar st yours.
According to the FAQ for Assurion, these TVs would not be covered. 90 day warranty only.
These are absolutely terrible TV’s. You want a disposable tv for some kind of TikTok prank? Buy one of these. They are complete garbage. I’ve owned one brand new. Picture looked great for 5 minutes. I dusted the screen lightly and it stopped working properly.
The warranty folks came out and said that it was customer abuse and if I paid them $40 they would remove it from my house. Save your money, and if you want to watch tv on a fire…. Get a fire tablet for $19 or a fire stick for the same price. Don’t buy a fire tv. Absolute trash. Which is a bummer because I really wanted to like them as I like the fire ecosystem.
I just bought the 43” last week from Woot and received it last night. After inspecting it, it was flawless for a used TV. After setting it up, it would get stuck on the “unable to update, contact Amazon customer service” screen. After troubleshooting it multiple times, it still would not work. So I contacted Amazon customer support and they looked the TV up by the serial number. Turns out it was reported as lost and stolen… So now I’m waiting on Woot customer service to assist me. What a pain
At this price it’s worth it to try out. Turkeys will go back for a refund. Maybe I will fare better.
This is going to a veterans canteen.
That seems correct. My understanding is that Assurion only covers new and refurbished products. And woot only links to the Assurion plans in product listings when that product is actually eligible for coverage. Since this is a “Used” product, it shouldn’t be eligible, so that link shouldn’t be there. The fine folks at woot might need to consider removing it or showing us how this product is eligible even though it seems like it isn’t.
Be aware this is the first generation Omni Series not the current QLED version. This model is probably worth the discounted price if you are a fan of Alexa.
Are these 110-240V or just 110V?
110
This is a common issue - the not able to update. I had it happen on a new 65 inch.
That being said I have 2x 65", 2x 55" and some 43". I have one 65 inch on pretty much all day and then a 55" on all night and I have no issues with them - love them.
Edit to add I gave a 65" and a 55" to friends and they have had no issues either.
Unfortunately, that was not the case for me. I called Amazon customer service and they verified that my specific TV was reported as “Lost and Stolen”. Being that it was reported “Lost and Stolen” it meant that it’s blacklisted by Amazon so you can’t connect to network nor sign in to an Amazon account, essentially rendering the TV as a basic TV screen to use for a gaming system or something along those lines. I contacted Woot customer service to see if this was something they could remedy, however they told me all they could do was refund me or contact the vendor they received these TVs from and ask if they had anymore in stock. I didn’t want to deal with the possibility of receiving another “Lost and stolen” TV so I asked for a refund.
For anyone else they runs into this specific issue, contact Amazon customer service and ask if they can honor a discount if you order through Amazon instead. I ended up paying 30$ less for a brand new TV (same model and size I purchased from Woot) then I did this used one. Hope that helps.
Thatvis badasss. Free TV! You lucky dog. Well $29 for acrefurb Firestick.
Get a fire stick and use that bad boy. Or they have some Walmart Onn brand streaming devices if for some reason the fire stick also blacklists you. Sucks if it was actually stolen, though. But if you have it, you have it ![]()
Hisense soft bricked my TV with an update. Have to use it w/o wifi. When I update it sends me to Android recovery mode, and loops that lol
Just uncrated mine and setting it up now. Looks like a brand new TV factory sealed! It’s pulling an update from Amazon now. I think I got a winner!
Update: three reboot and updates later it is working 100%. This was an excellent buy!
Update 2: found a minor cosmetic flaw in frame, top edge. Not a show stopper- this thing is solid!
