Somebody talk to me about this. I would like to know if anybody has one of these and how it works for them. I need this to scan my parents/Mom’s years of paperwork. 600 dpi should be perfect. But I need reliability. I also need to know that I can get the consumables for it. Does anybody know about that?
Does this scan in color or only B&W?
I see this going for 350-390 on Amazon, CDW, etc but almost no reviews. Seems like a huge discount which makes you wonder how long it will be supported. But way cheaper than the Fujitsu you usually see used in offices. Goes to PDF and cloud storage with Windows only from the writeup. Probably less than the toner cartridge for the Fujitsu if you want to gamble.
According to the manufacturer, this scans in color and b&w, and since this is only a scanner, not a printer, there’s not really consumables - at this cost, you’re just going to toss it if the roller and/or (edited) feed pads go out. The 20 ppm is only at 200 dpi, so expect only about 2-3 ppm at 600 dpi.
Me too. Does it print hard copies? Is it hard to get photos copied, to save for filing?
They’re actually are consumables. The consumables are the pic roller, I forget what they call it, that picks up each page and feeds it into the scanner. On these types of scanners, there’s another consumable, but I forget what it is right now. I have the FuJitsu which is why I know what consumables these need. What I don’t want to get caught with, is buying this, and then being unable to purchase the consumables.
Good to know. If it goes b4 i decide, it will be gone. lol
Fair enough. Here’s their consumable page. I didn’t say there were no consumables, I said that at this price, you’re going to dump the machine before buying consumables, so there’s not “really” consumables. Also, my guess is don’t plan on them being around long enough for consumable purchases to become an issue.
In any event, now you know how to find them…
No mention of software-- print it, cut it, re-scan it I guess?
Thank you kindly!
You can download the software from their homepage if it’s not included https://www.ambir.com/ambirscan-pro-setup/ thanks to @astevenscr for the link to the manufacturer page.
This looks like a good deal. Keep in mind it’s refurbished, but Woot has a link to the added Optional Asurion Protection Plan: for $7.99 for 2 years. Still much cheaper than regular price.
Here’s the product video from their page
If you read the specifications from the manufacturer page they list
Daily Duty Scans – Up to 3,000
Roller Lifetime (scans) – 100,000 – replacement roller may be easily installed by user
Pad Lifetime (scans) – 20,000 – replacement feeder pad may be easily installed by user
I don’t think most average users scan that much so the parts should last for awhile, but these are geared towards businesses/office users so who knows.
Does this come with the license key for the software?
Toner cartridge in a scanner? What does that do?
An Amazon user answered that it scans in color, greyscale, and black & white. It is odd that none of the descriptions, nor pictures mention color.

Manufacturer notification: these units are not offered by Ambir Technology, they are not factory refurbished nor will they be covered under manufacturer warranty.
They only mention the scanner (and a twain driver) in the woot ad. Since I made the post about downloading the software from the manufacturer I took the liberty to download & install the software from the manufacturers page I posted & it does ask for the license key which it doesn’t say in the woot ad.
“BROAD COMPATIBILITY: The included enhanced TWAIN driver ensures compatibility with thousands of software applications and hardware systems”
Copied this blurb from their page:
" TWAIN is the simplest way to provide your scanner the compatibility to work with virtually any software application. Programs like Adobe® Creative Suite®, QuickBooks and online banking check deposit make use of the TWAIN driver."
Warranty: 90 Day Woot Limited Warranty
Optional Asurion Protection Plan: To further protect your purchase, you can buy an Asurion protection plan from Amazon here. Review the FAQs for additional information.
I don’t know why I’m so invested in this product, but since I got involved in the conversation I’m finishing what I started …sigh.
Which is why we list them as refurbished with a woot warranty.
