What are the actual band sizes? Length min/max? Anyone know?
I printed out the measuring guide and was sized to a 10. The 10 came and was way too big. I find myself competent. I printed, measured and cut the guide accurately and then the band came and was just way bigger than necessary.
Granted, I like the apple watch to fit snuggly, but not overly tight. So, I returned and bought a size 9.
This came and was still too big. It fits, but is slightly more loose than I would like.
I kept it, but considering getting an 8.
Braided size 3 laid flat is slightly over 5 inches, 4 is slightly under 5 1/4 inches (137mm, 142mm)
if you go to apple’s website and tell them the measurement of your wrist, they’ll give you the size you should use. DO NOT PRINT OUT THE MEASUREMENT TOOL; it does not match the sizing of the bands that I bought here last time by several sizes.
If you change the measurements on the website a little bit, you can see if you are on the edge of the larger size or the smaller size or right in the middle. You can kind of figure out the length of the band from the size of the watch and your wrist measurement. there is the space that hovers over your wrist right at the watch, fyi
I also measured both wrists and they were two different sizes I bought different sizes for each which seem accurate. (I like switching wrists occasionally, weird, I know.)
I also printed out the Apple size guide and was squarely a size 6. It was fine but it was a little loose so I bought a 5, too, and have been using it since. The 6 sits in a drawer.
I read on Reddit that apparently if you go to an Apple Store some employees measure you and immediately suggest the size smaller.
My guess is that the size guide might be exactly right for the moment you buy it but does not account for any potential (very minor) stretch over time.
lol…I’m sure you did it right but I imagine many people feel this way who, in fact, aren’t.
I found my 38mm/40mm/41mm solo loop size was different than 44mm/45mm/46mm/49mm and different than my braided loop size. Unless you’ve tried them on once it’s hard to get it perfect. On top of that the braided loops stretch so it’s a moving target.
I bought three or four of these, and found that even the same size varies in length, and it seems to be based on which series watch it was issued for.* Your best bet is printing out the Apple sizing guide and using that rather than a tailors tape measure. Personally, I’d prefer it to be a little bit loose than too small, too small is really not comfortable to wear for me.
- Woot’s selection is from several different years. And … Apple allegedly changed the fit one year.
These have always looked great to me, and I have never bothered because they require me to think for more than 2 seconds before purchasing.
Ordered January 23. Not shipped yet.
Hello. I’m sorry about that. I do see that you were fully refunded earlier today.
I would have preferred getting the product. Any reason it wasn’t shipped?
I tried again today with another color. I am leaving the shipping address Feb 28. If it hasn’t shipped and delivered by then I assume I can cancel the order?
You’d need to reach out to customer service to see if a cancel is possible.
A note about the black unity band. The packaging for the Apple limited unity bands is always a little bit special. In this case the box uses gloss and matte printing to an interesting effect, and also includes the “vision“ card using special printing techniques to hide the text until you angle the light just right. Overall, a very classy effect, and a very nice dark band as well. This black unity band is from 2022 and for the 41 mm size is designed for the 41 mm watch.
Some of these older braided solo loops are designed for a 40 mm Apple Watch and so are about 1 mm longer than ones designed for the 41mm size Watch.
Last note: DEFINITELY use the Apple sizing strip. Print it out, cut it, measure your wrist. Tells you the size. There is slight 1mm-2mm variance among various bands. It’s either due to manufacturing, the model watch it was made for (40mm, 41mm), and there was a slight change in sizing somewhere during production of Braided Solo Loops. But still a nice strap, better than off-brands.
