Barnes & Noble NOOK 3G + WiFi eReader

First time post, but I’d just like to say that my Nook just arrived yesterday! I’ve been using it nonstop since, and I love it. For those of you out there who haven’t received theirs yet, the best of luck to you! I know your pain, and the wait won’t be too much longer.

Also, mine came preloaded with v1.5, did no one else’s?

And what is the 273 mean? I assume it means that the 273 of us who’s Nooks were delayed, but I thought there were thousands of Nooks sold. Could someone explain that to me?

P.S. I want the background too!

Yay, my nook arrived today in spite of it’s fedex tracking info being…for lack of a better word, wrong. I’m very pleased with it, almost worth the wait…Really loving the eInk, though I have to get used to the fact that it isn’t a touch screen. Keep wanting to use it like my droid.

Still waiting in Western NY. Fedex says Saturday and the USPS has received notification that it’s coming to them. Hoping it actually arrives on Saturday!

Either mine came preloaded or it downloaded without me even realizing (which from I’ve read, it could’ve done b/c it auto downloads if you are connected to wifi and ‘search for new content’). So I dont know I did it or they did it, but it has 1.5

I’ve always been a reading junkie, but with my new nook I’m pretty sure not even a 12 step program could stop me from reading now!! I got it yesterday and I’m almost through reading my first book (160 Pages)

i think my mail carrier is being intentionally slow because she knows that she has my woot box and she knows that i want it. :frowning:

8 minutes after my last post…I WAS FOOKING NOOKED!!!

to the rest of you still waiting, hang in there!!

Going beyond irritated to really, really mad. The Nook I ordered on the 21st hasn’t shipped yet, and by anyone’s estimation it’s been more than 5 business days. I don’t know if they’re trying to punish me because I had the audacity to question where it might be, or if they’re trying to teach me some kind of lesson, or if they’re trying to piss me off, or if they’re just incompetent. If they thought there would be a delay they easily could have told me yesterday, and if something magically popped up today, fine - but I doubt it.

Gone from being a supporter, amidst the shipping fiasco, to being on the verge of deciding they’re not worth my time. I’m sure they don’t care if they lose one customer. So be it. But I don’t know if I’m believing that FedEx is to blame for the original shipping problem. Looks more and more like Woot screwed up and tried to pin it on them.

YAYYYYYYYYY!!! I’ve been hoping you’d get yours today!

I went to the “Nook Night” here in MI on Wednesday. I had just received my Nook in time to get it charged and prettied up in time to go to the class. About an hour long class. They also had a rep there from our local library who talked about how to get books from them. They both gave a few tips that I didn’t know before going so I was glad I went.

I’m compiling my recipes and loading them onto my Nook too! Love it!!!

It took 4-5 tries before my 1.5 update was successful and I guess this is normal because on the B&N site is says you might have to try it several times.

Hmmm I think mine already came loaded with the 1.5 version. I didn’t do anything special to get it. Can’t remember if it said the version before I registered it or not. Maybe when I registered it is when it loaded the version?

thank you!! i was really doubting it would get here today but then it did and i nearly tackled my mail lady! LOL! its charging now and im super thrilled to have it…especially since i woke up this morning with bronchitis. i predict that ill be doing a lot of hanging out on the couch or laying in bed so having my e-reader is a BIG plus.

hang in there! ive got my fingers crossed for you! its a miserable and frustrating wait but in the end…so worth it.

Among the thousands ordered, most were delayed. 273 of our boxes were extra-lost for a little while though. And judging by the day you got yours, you’re in the club.

I’ll make the promise again: Special Nook art for our special nookie club will show up here in a day or two.

Been doing the same thing. Keep touching the reader part to select an item when I actually need to use the bottom color touchscreen. Speaking of which, it seems that the touchscreen requires a firmer touch than I’m use to.

But violentstephanie, for each person shouting with glee about their package arriving, my poor little heart breaks just a little more. You don’t want me to be all alone do you?

Since I had some time to kill, you might be surprised to learn that I was looking at my Fedex tracking history again. I found a little puzzle there:

Apr 27, 2011 9:09 AM
Arrived at FedEx location
FEDEX SMARTPOST NORTHBOROUGH, MA

Apr 26, 2011 4:54 AM
Departed FedEx location
FEDEX SMARTPOST MARTINSBURG, WV

According to that, it took 4 hours to travel 450+ miles. Interesting.

No, I don’t. Sigh. I’ll just deal.

But I have a question. I’m not one of the original 273 and I’m feeling sad. Does this experience qualify me for the club?

of course.

Finally got the Nook today. Very nice.

I had some issues getting the Adobe Digital Editions to recognize the Nook (I need it for the Ohio eBook Project, a free on-line elibrary).

I found a discussion group that had the solution. Since we have refurbs, if the previous owner had already registered the device with Adobe, it is not autodetected for you, the new owner.

There are step by step instructions on how to remove the old file and get ADE to recognize it again. Once that’s done, it’s free books on the Nook.

Sweeeeeet.

GOT IT!!! YAY! I have a stash of free books but just bought my first eBook so I can read my next book club selection. SO FUN!

awesome!!

i downloaded like 300 or so books in the last few days in anticipation of this thing arriving!

in fact, im not even sure where to start!
