Great little device; I prefer it over the round shaped smokeless pits as you can see the fire through the “mesh” on three sides of the device. I also like that this folds down smaller for storage.

The device as a companion app so you can change the fan speed via bluetooth.

I own one of these and have since before Woot started setting them.

Here’s the problem with this biolite pit. They initially came out with a camp stove that used a sterling engine to actually generate electricity from the fire burning in it which would charge a battery so you could charge your devices like a phone AND it ran a fan for a very efficient burn. Then they come out with this camp stove and you’d think -bigger fire, more power output from it to charge a battery. But alas, no. You have to precharge a battery pack from your electrical socket at home then connect it to the pit so it can burn your wood. There is no power generating capability from this pit, so if you thought you could use it like their original camp stove, you’re s.o.l. there are lots of cheap portable fire pits you can buy that can cook a meal and not cost $160 for a USB battery pack.

This has been on Woot multiple times and I’ve almost purchased it but the deal breaker for me is there is no Android support for three app to control the fan. I just looked again and nope, not listed after doing a search. So if you have an android phone you will not be able to control the fan to control the fire.

Oof. Can confirm. No app, no deal!

I’m able to download the app without issue. Upon opening the app, it does complain that it’s for an older version of Android, but it still works.

Also, the app is not necessary since the same controls (on/off and fan speed) can be manually adjusted on the fan/power box.

We love our firepit, so I wouldn’t let that stop you from trying it out.

FYI, I think you were referring to the stove version, this is a fire pit version.

Does this come with the grill thingy to put on the top and make food?

Yes, the grill grate is included.

You’re probably right.

Even the “initial version” on Kickstarter clarified that, no, this does not generate electricity.

Andoid app must be for an ancient version of android. None of my devices will download it.

No, it’s for current versions of Android. It’s designed to be backwards compatible to an extent but not all that far. I don’t know why you can’t download it but they do keep the app current. I have the latest version of Android and it works fine.

(Please note: I don’t work for Woot, I just volunteer to help out here on the forums.)
