Does a great job, and an awesome price, but this is the noisiest little heater you’ll ever find. It sounds like fan needs lubrication, or just isnt seated correctly (because if you bump it a little, it can get better, or worse, for a short while)
Have mine set up on a timer in the bathroom so it kicks on about 30min before my alarm!
I have this heater and it performed admirably to keep our bedroom warm during the last winter season. I hooked it up to one of these: http://www.amazon.com/Lux-Heating-Cooling-Programmable-Thermostat/dp/B000E7NYY8 so that it gained a more sophisticated thermostat mechanism and I didn’t have to worry about forgetting to turn it off during the day. Simply set the thermostat like you would your usual one, plug in the heater, turn it on and turn the built-in thermostat all the way up.
The only down side to this heater is that it uses convection and thus is a bit slow to heat the room. However, if you give it 30 - 40 minutes head start in a closed room it is nice and toasty when you are ready for bed. The fan doesn’t do much but make noise.
I’ve got a different model micathermic heater without a fan that works pretty well if you’re close to it. The addition of a fan to distribute the heat would make it much nicer, you should try this one out if you’re looking for a space heater. Don’t expect it to warm whole rooms though.
a word to the wooters- using electricity to heat the air is very inefficient- I have one of these and almost never use it. it’s probably cheaper to run the gas furnace for the whole house than to run this thing.
Picked this up on a previous Woot late last year - used it on the ‘low’ setting on a daily basis to supplement heat to an outside small room - burnt out after a couple of months. Did a great job while it worked.
