so do you have to upload maps or are there maps preloaded, and if they are preloaded, how up to date are they?
Stores 20 photos (how large of an area) and they only give 4 free photos per account.
Anyone use one of these? how large of an area do the photos cover and how much do they charge for them?
yeahp whoops typed quickly
This is similar to the one they recently had for $100, but it won’t do XM Weather. Not too shabby for the coin.
The description says it has:
- SafeTrack battery conservation mode,
- HOT button operation, and
- Night Mode.
Any idea what any of that means?
I find it a little hilarious that a VERY similar product is on the Newegg bi-daily special right now for $120

Amazon with not so great review
[/quote]
Yes, but thats the only review, and it doesnt give any real information about function or value, it just says someone doesnt like the graphics. Its not really a review, its just a complaint. Try harder.
I dig your groove, Woot, but is that noon central standard time or central daylight saving time? Plz advise.
tip: this runs on batteries so bring an extra set of AA’s on your excursions. You DON’T want this running out of juice when you’re lost with no backup power source!
Overnight shipping!! Get a present without leaving the house. Why can’t woot offer this as a option on any purchase? Man would I pay $25 to get a BOC the next day.
The SafeTrack feature is something that shuts the screen off to save on batteries, but the GPS is not totally turned off (you can “wake” it back up). HOT button is, well, a button that brings up pertinent functions to any screen you’re on. I have no idea what night mode is.
Be careful when comparison shopping. The Onix 200 has a monochrome screen, while the Onix 200CR (the one for sale here) has a color screen.
Wonders if this works for navigation in a car.
just grab a tom tom =]

If it’s anything like my car’s GPS, night mode inverts the colors, or sets the dominant color to black. Since the screen doesn’t need to be as bright at night to be clearly seen, it saves a significant amount of battery power.
Either that, or it marks the location of werewolves.
Whichever.
