Aluminum is a no-go for me. Oh well.
Very well reasoned statement. Thank you for sharing.
Said another way, why? Heat distribution, toxicity issues? Inquiring minds want to know…
The stuff has a killer non-stick coating, so no food contacts an aluminum surface.
What current or outdated Internet anti-aluminum opinions are scaring people now?
Also, I don’t think it uses aluminum. Two reviews mention rusting.
" For example, although authoritative organizations such as the Alzheimer’s Association have stated that the idea that using aluminum cookware can lead to AD is a “myth” and that “…studies have failed to confirm any role for aluminum in causing Alzheimer’s. …and few believe that everyday sources of aluminum pose any threat,”†there is a thriving business in selling aluminum-free cookware with the ostensible purpose of avoiding AD. The present review discusses the reasons for mainstream science’s disinterest in the Aluminum Hypothesis and touches on possible reasons that the general public continues to view aluminum with mistrust.
Why are you trying to start crap?
I’ll pass… not because I think aluminum is going to kill me but because aluminum is a wimpy metal. A good cake pan is made of a material that isn’t so soft that the pan is damaged if decide to run a knife around the edge to loosen a cake or god forbid cut something from the pan and serve it directly from the pan. Aluminum is just too soft, I learned that a long time ago with pizza pans. I prefer a pan made from stainless steel, rust and stronger than aluminum.
As for the gimmicky silicone feet… why? Do I really want 4 insulators on the bottom of the pan to block heat when I’m cooking in the pan? Do I really think a hot pan on a granite counter top is going to damage the granite? This just seems stupid.
Not sure everyone has granite countertops.
Get outta here with your fake ass granite
I don’t have granite, it’s the Woot of countertops.
Oh so you one of those people with tile countertops
Nope. Grout lines are the devil.
Agree! This house came with ye ol’ Formica countertops. Joy.
They’re not fancy but they don’t have grout lines lol. The “plan” is to replace mine with butcher block. We’re getting closer but I doubt it happens anytime soon.
@DruePhoenix, @thomas998: Did you look at the manufacture’s specs? I’m guessing no.
Material Type: Carbon Steel; Aluminized Steel
Aluminized steel is NOT the same as the body being made out of aluminum. This set is made of steel.
