CineGo D-1000 Home Theater DLP Projector System w/DVD Player

yeah I have watched 3 full movies with the built in one. 2 were burned copies. I did see the picture stall for 1 sec during one of the movies but that has been it.
Im still trying to figure out why i cant use my PC with this. I was able to catch the VGA signal once and the desktop picture coming through had black and white horizontal lines going crazy all over the screen. so i dont know if the PC has some setting that need to be changed or what.

Do you guys think that I could be able to use Harmony remote for this pj?

I’ve found that dual layer burned DVDs play just fine, but some of my old single layers will stutter or stop. That’s doesn’t surprise me, as the single layers also have problems playing back in my cars player. Unless you’re having difficulties playing back commercially pressed DVDs in good condition, then I wouldn’t say that there is a problem.

I was amazed at this deal- Great picture (on my wall), great sound, no scratches, etc … until I saw that the both the bulb and projector are at almost 2000 hrs. I’m a newbie here, does anyone know my options. Can I return this? I am not happy about this!!! Thanks in advance for any of your advice.

Perhaps your refresh rate or resolution is too high? Try 640x480 @ 60Hz while plugged into a monitor, then pull the plug and connect it to the PJ.

are you sure? the light does blink once you plug it in, but then you need to push the power button to turn the unit on.

and the projector has a VGA menu. check the manual.

I know. When I turn it on, the light blinks slowly for a while, then goes solid. I imagined that meant it was heat cycling, like when you turn it off, but it does that when i turn it on no matter how long it has been off. If I press it to turn it on, a fan spins up, but no picture. I I press it twice, no picture. I press it a few times, and it turns starts shutdown. If I leave a DVD in it and then turn it on, no picture, but I can hear the DVD spin up and a fan blow. In any of the above situations, it turns off by itself after about a minute without ever actually projecting a picture. Yes, the lens cap is off, and yes, there is a lamp in there, and yes, i have reseated it, and yes, I have played with the SRC button both on the remote and on the unit. I spent at least 2 maybe 3 hours playing with it and researching on google. To the remote guy who asked how I knew the remote worked - cause it does all those things when i power it on by remote, too.

For what it’s worth, I am really disappointed with this Woot and with Woot in general, seeing how many people got either totally DOA or obviously unrepaired products. I guess now I know not to get refurbished, since these products do not seem to have been serviced.

Neither my manual nor the projector seems to have such a menu. Maybe it appears when the VGA is detected. I’ll check.

As for the person who had the problem with VGA, check your resolution. My projector could not handle 1280 x 800. Though it could handle something like 1280 x 740. If your card lets you set custom resolutions, you might play around with it.

I take that back. My manual does mention a VGA menu. And I just checked, if I set my res to 800x600, its detected as a VGA and a VGA menu will show up (under Image).

Interesting enough, if I set the res to 1280 x 720, it detects as VGA (with “720p” appearing under it during the detection popup). If I go to the About menu, it says the source is HDTV (or something like that), instead of VGA. And, the VGA menu does not appear anymore..

Partial report:

My Cinego looks brand new - no scratches or anything. You can tell it was taken out of the original packaging once, but everything was put back together.

I watched 4 episodes of 24 on DVD. The picture was very very good and it looked great in my bedroom on the wall with no screen. I’m not a picky AV guy to begin with, but even if I was, I think that the image is good enough to not even require a screen.

The sound was also impressive. Keep in mind, this was just in my bedroom. The speakers and subwoofer did their job and would be acceptable even outside in the backyard for a small crowd.

Because I hadn’t yet configured my room, I literally just had the Cinego on an endtable next to my bed and it was only 2-3 feet from my head when watching the DVDs. The heat wasn’t a problem and the noise from the unit wasn’t really that bad of a distraction either.

So far it’s been everything I had hoped for and more…but that was just for the DVD player. I’ll post again after trying it with my tv tuner. Sunday is my test run for the super bowl.

Are you sure you’re waiting long enough after pressing the power button the first time? It seems a silly question, but you’d be surprised how many people have the “clicky button” syndrome, where if they don’t get the desired result within a couple of seconds, they click a whole bunch more times right away.

The first press will power it on, but it does take around 30 seconds before the bulb gets bright enough to see an image, then another 30 seconds or so for full brightness. Two additional keypresses turns it off, one to request turn off and one to confirm. Then it goes into shutdown mode and you can’t do anything until it finishes. You can also look in the vents on the front right side, next to the lense, and see if there is any light at all.

Okay, so far so good.

I popped in a dvd and fired it up and it was terrific! Picture is bright and clear. Even in bright light!

My unit still had plastic covering the dvd cover, and the remote was still encased in plastic shrinkwrap. The sub had a couple of light scrapes, so it appears to have been unpacked and used previously.

Honestly, I was so captivated that I forgot to check the lamp timer before I shut it back off (will check tonight or tomorrow).

Tonight, I hope to get my screen assembled and hung: I am going with 52x92 (should yield about 106 to 108 diagonal).

I spent a bit of time scooting it around to determine just how big I need to make it, and have settled on locating it approximately 12 to 13 feet away at about full zoom.

I was shining it straight onto a “sea foam” green wall (and a window with a closed plantation shutter) and still felt like watching the whole movie; I can’t wait to get it more permanently arranged.

At this point, I hope to use a (the word is “b-o-o-k c-a-s-e” =>) bookcase wall divider behind the couch to locate the projector high and angled down a bit (instead of on a low table angled up). Does anyone know if the keystone adjustments can be made in BOTH directions.

It seems that Radio Shack’s response to the woot-inspired interest in replacement lamp assemblies has been to remove the out-of-stock item from inventory and delete all references to it from their website. If you haven’t already, contact them and request their assistance in locating the original part manufacturer for direct ordering.

In the alternative, would someone with a non-working lamp assembly determine whether the assembly can be disassembled so that the bulb alone could be replaced? It might a good article for MAKE…

So far, this has the potential to be my favorite successful woot!

Yeah. Last night I was watching a movie (sadly, on my monitor) and was playing with it again. I had it on again for about an hour, pressing the power button every few minutes, and then just leaving it on. Again, if you just leave it on, it just turns off by itself within 4-5 minutes. It hasn’t ever displayed any sort of picture in what now has to be at least 3 hours of playing with it.

Works Great. Fits my budget. it makes me apppy

For anyone interested in knowing, the scaler in the PJ does not appear to use a Faroudja processor. I didn’t expect it to have one when I bought it, and I still think it has a great picture. This is just info for those who are planning to use it as their main HT display. Nothing beats the convenience of having an internal DVD player, but in a fixed environment, an external DVD player that has Faroudja processing will net you an even better picture.

Played a DVD, mine did the 2 second freezing action a couple of times too. Display time was 900 something hours. I’m glad it works, but hopefully it will work with the regular channels as well as I already invited a bunch of peeps for superbowl, hehe

I ordered three of these and they arrived Wednesday. I tested them all and all three seem to work fine. One of the lamps shows 794 hours, one shows 16 hours, and one shows 5 hours. They are all in very good cosmetic condition and played Shrek 2 without a hitch. Picture was very nice at night on the blank wall. I’m going to build a screen out of blackout cloth which should bring out the color even more. The sound was pretty good (small room) even without the subwoofer. The only hiccup is that one of the remote batteries was dead, but that will be easy to replace.

Time will tell, but so far this looks like an excellent buy. Thanks woot!

I built a screen for it yesterday out of blackout cloth. It truly does make a difference. The projector has a throw distance of about 12 feet, and I’m using a 97" screen.

Here it is!

I built mine out of a 100X54 inch piece of blackout and four pieces of 1x4 wood that I painted flat black. Then added some hangers to the back and voila! - I have a “home theater”. Took about 2-3 hours to build. Connected it to my surround sound for the full effect.

So far we have watched a couple movies, some football, and played some Halo on Xbox.
