Forget that it’s an 8th generation Intel processor approaching ESU, who wouldn’t pay the extra $12.00 to go from 8GB RAM/256GB SSD to 32GB RAM/1TB SSD? Or $5.00 to upgrade to 32GB RAM/512GB SSD?

Newer generation Dell Latitude laptops with similar memory and storage configurations coupled with better warranties are available for similar prices to those willing to do the legwork.
Kevin, believe me I looked. At this price point I was happy to order a 32/512 one
Yes, you definitely have to time your search for the ideal find. Fortunately, I have the luxury of taking my time to find a diamond in the rough. That is not always the case for everyone.
32GB RAM and 512GB SSD is definitely a nice upgrade for minimal additional expense. I hope that you will enjoy your new device. You generally have a fairly reliable device with a Dell Latitude laptop. Congratulations on your score!
I have a Dell XPS 8960 which I like. EXCEPT the SSD drive with the OS failed, so I had to install a new (bigger by choice) one and then used a backup to make it my own again. I’ve never had something that catastrophic happen with a Dell. There are 3 older XPS’s here gathering dust - I should flip them. Like these:
I had an old XPS desktop suffer a catastrophic HDD failure about 10 years ago. Not fun. It’s currently collecting dust in a plastic bin.
I tend to place the blame for storage failures on the media manufacturer, nevertheless, Dell has occasional quality issues just like every other OEM.
Check out this Ebay/Amazon reseller the next time you are in the market. They offer pretty good deals on Certified Refurbished devices with free 2-year warranties through Allstate. I have purchased both a 14" Dell Latitude 11th generation laptop and a HP 12th generation desktop from them in the past six months at excellent prices. The Dell laptop with 32GB RAM and 512GB SSD for under $250 in like-new condition with a 2-year warranty. Their prices are generally slightly higher via their Amazon storefront and with shorter warranties.
Also check out the Dell Refurbished website for monthly deals.
Both and Newegg are excellent ways of gauging Woot! Deals.
