Max Ram is 32gb, not 16.
Pretty overpriced for not new hardware.
Currently have 24GB in mine.
This board can ‘fit’ in an ATX case but has some odd placements (sata/ATX) and you will have to re-pin your CPU cooler and take off the 5-pin dell fan i/o shroud and figure out the 2 on/off wires from the power switch for your aftermarket case. That said, if you are gonna go thru all that… the board can be had for $9.99 and the better MiniATX version can be had for a bit more. (Search Dell 9010)
I was given one of these for free almost 3 years ago with a 3470 in it. Dropped a 3770(non-K) in and it’s still my daily driver. This price is downright absurd for a 2012 released machine.
Dell refurb was selling the same model a while back at 109 with 4GB/128GB, but 240GB SSD are only around 30 bucks so 244 is crazy. Actually I just found the exact same specs on ebay for 150 (refurbished).
I got the 7010 motherboard on ebay a couple years ago and put it in an atx case. You do have to figure out some odd wiring, but it works. The only real issue is that when adding a graphics card that takes up two slots (cooler) the psu plug on the MB is in the way.
$119 just last weekend. My work bought a few to upgrade some slower Pentium machines.
That said, Dell Refurbished is 100 day warranty versus a year offered here, and they ship with the original OS instead of W10P here. Along with the extra ram and SSD space, the price here isn’t out of line IMHO.
Good reliable systems. The 3770 is certainly worth the extra $55. These may be aging but they don’t show it, either in performance or hardware quality. These are solid metal cases that make repairs and upgrades easy. These are not plastic chassis pieces of crud. I just sold an i3 7010 desktop and am just now migrating away from the 3770 7010 minitower that was my main PC. I’m also migrating away from a 4770S Optiplex XE2 that was my media server. The blue PCIe slot on these SFF is x16 and supplies 50 watts. Best card I know of that will work is a low profile GTX 750 Ti. The black PCIe is x4 and 25 watts.
The specs say “no optical drive” but the pictures clearly show one - which is correct?
MUCH better deals on refurb computers can be found on https://www.arrowdirect.com/ and even https://walmart.com
Hi,
There is a slot for an optical drive, but there is not one installed on these units.
Hi!
Max RAM is 32GB, you are correct. Spec has been updated.
Thanks!
Not at comparable specs. That said, between non-standard everything, unknown number of write cycles on the ssd, and w10, meh.
Agreed on all counts. I have a department that “disposed” of a bunch of 7010s with i7s and 16G that I am upgrading to W10, installing an SSD and redeploying elsewhere. These things are still SOLID office desktop machines.
