I’m deeply concerned about the DeLonghi PACAN140HPEWKC Portable 14,000 BTU Air Conditioner unit. It says it’s “Suitable for most rooms up to 00 sq. ft.”

If I use it in a room with actual space, would that violate the warranty? Does the unit exist in a quantum state not measured in cubic feet? Does the room need to also exist in that quantum state?

So many questions, Woot.

I bought a portable air conditioner from WOOT last month. It was advertised as REFURB but it was actually DEFECTIVE. Parts did not fit. Still waiting for manufacturer to send replacement parts to see if able to get it to work

Hmmm. It seems that our staff was having a bit of an existential crisis when putting this sale together. I’m sure the actual truth is not so bleak. I’ll get in touch and see what I can find out!

Other sites say that model can cool up to 500sq ft, but I need to confirm this with the vendor before I can go around making grand statements- ya dig?

So lets just keep that estimate between you and me…

UPDATE: Buyer confirms 500sq.ft. is correct.

Also pictures show an exhaust kit (tubing and window piece) does this come with purchase…?? I clicked on specs and it says only things in box are air conditioning unit and a remote…

Does it have the hose and window attachments and adapter? If not, it’s hard to see how the unit would work without them. Please answer ASAP so I can get one if it’s going to do what I need. Thanks!

I too would like to know if it comes with the window kit. Pretty important piece to this…

I wonder the same thing too. Without the hose and window attachment it’s just going to blow hot air inside the room. I believe a new window kit is pretty expensive.

Sometimes it is hard to envision how these work:

Think of Sponge Bob in his house. He has one of these going. The hot water in the house is being pushed out of the window as new water is cooled. The water that went out must be replaced by water from the outside of Bob’s house. It seeps in from the cracks and crevices. If the water coming in is warm and wet the air conditioner will not perform too well.

Now think of your place. Is it hot and humid? Well then hot and humid air from the outside will replace the air inside and and this machine will suck at dehumidifying and cooling. It will work better in a hot and dry area, but not great.

That said, I have one and it is in the basement in Long Island, NY where the summers are pretty humid. I run a dehumidifier along with it and it cools just fine. I only use it when I am in my office there and the temperature is not really too hot to begin with.

So if you can use a window unit it will be more efficient in that it recirculates the air that is in the house rather than pulling in new air to cool and dehumidify.

Adding to the chorus asking about the window kit, but I have a further question: Does said window kit work with windows that slide vertically — i.e., can the window kit be configured to 45" long/tall?

I have one at home already that we picked up at Costco. We had no issues fitting it vertically, and I believe our window is around your size. If it does come with a kit, I will probably pick up another one.

I have an outside patio that has 3 solid walls, about 250 sq ft. In Atlanta, so gets pretty humid there. I am leaning towards a huge fan but concerned about noise. Can these portable ACs work outdoors?

Preach brother! This is why most indoor units, despite big numbers like 14,000 BTUs, don’t do a very good job. A 14,0000 BTU window unit would be nuts!

If you are going to buy nonwindow unit, make sure you get one with a dual hose, not a single like these models. They work marginally better.

Since we’re asking about the window vent kits… I’ve considered one of these for years, if nothing else than a backup for my central a/c because I live in southern NV. But I only have two windows which open. They slide and are 56" high. I’ve never seen a unit which claims that width. Does this one?

I purchased a DeLonghi 13,000 and it came with the hose and window kit. I have vertical windows and the kit worked in the 44" opening. The DeLonghi does a great job of cooling my 2nd floor bedroom!

I’d check this lin before you buy:

I wish you had been a month earlier on this one. I went to Amazon to buy one (De’Longhi PAC N130HPE). But I did buy the 4M Samsung Monitor here while it is much more expensive at Amazon. Win some and spend some.

Thanks for pointing this out. When building the sale, we fat fingered this and forgot the ‘5’. This AC is suitable for most rooms up to 500 sq. ft. We’ve updated the sale with this information. Sorry about the confusion.
