Anyone know if I’m able to use a photograph in my design, if I’m the photographer? Been really into the work of Barbara Kruger recently, and kind of wanted to do something in her style.

In the past the answer to this has been no (and if you’re using a photo of a face there might be additional concerns beyond who took the photo). But if you have 4 or fewer entries ready to post, I’d suggest just trying it to see what happens. If it gets rejected you’ll have an answer (and an opportunity to enter something else, if you have more ideas prepared).

Yes, you can. This is what it says in the derby guidelines page

“Entries may contain photographic elements IF you have rights to the images and/or permission. You do not have to provide the proof of rights with your submission but you must have them available and provide upon request. Remember that we own the Editorial and when there is a question we will address it.”

Thanks you guys! I entered it. Fingers crossed!

(I think these would sell by the thousands to teachers for professional development days at the end of summer break)

Try resaving all your files- ideally you want the file size to be slightly different than they were the first time. Then upload again and see if it works.

If you are still having issues, try flattening your PNG to have a plain white background. If that uploads correctly when the original wouldn’t, email the original to artistsupport@woot.com and let the know what happened.

Sorry a belated thank you for your help. I managed to upload in the end!
