“Gif” [ɡif, jif] Google said Gif is pronounced Jif 
OMG I’ve been saying it wrong my hole life!! 
Well that depends.
If I’m not talking about gifs then I won’t pronounce it like that, because it would be akin to calling a penguin a sledgehammer.
