Thanks for sharing.

You’re welcome. I’m retired and if I am just sitting around the computer I do this to pass some time. It just may help someone.

I have this vacuum (ETA: mine is actually the DC14 for $189 so great deal on a better model), purchased on Woot last spring (I think) and it came packaged as though it was new, all plastic covers on the parts etc. even smelled that new plastic smell. It has been a wonderful vacuum and I have not regretted it for a second. As I always say when these pop up, I was at once thrilled and horrified at the amount of crap this thing pulled out of my carpet the first time I used it. It was scary.

I will also say that we have a very vacuum abusive environment here. Lots of pine needles, tiny pinecones, gravel, cat hair, kid detritus, just plain tons of crap in our carpet (rural area under 100’ fir trees) and this vacuum has never given me a moment of grief. The only thing I have had to do is clean off the brush because a bunch of hair and string had gotten built up on it, but that is true of any vacuum. Buy it, you wont regret it.

Is anyone else nervous about ‘refurbished’? I want to purchase, but would love to hear a few more Woot-refurbished success stories.
I will only buy refurbished vacuums from now on. A while back I bought a refurbished model. When I took it out of the box I found they had failed to empty the collection container from when the previous owner used it. When I emptied it out, I saw something shiny that turned out to be a 3 carat diamond!

I think its rude that Woot intruded upon that man’s very personal moment and posted it on the web. Those moments should be left between a man and his Dyson.

I purchased the Dyson DC14 Animal from Woot five years ago and it was refurbished. I have 2 collies in my house plus a cat. With all that, I JUST last month replaced the clutch assembly and beater bar. ( parts purchased from Amazon and followed the youtube video). The DC14 has a separate drive clutch built in and around the belt. After 5 years of dog hair the belt was slipping, and needed to be replaced. Other than that, the Dyson is still running great.

Estimated time of arrival?

Why does this have a 6 month warranty as opposed to the 5 years in the non-refurbished? Is it the case in all refurbished stuff?

Alright, that’s it! Finally in for one after years of reading everyone’s comments. I’m disappointed that its not lighter, it only weighs a tiny bit less than my wife’s Kirby that she’s had for years. But that thing is beat, I’m sure we’re going to like having a more powerful machine.

Well, let us know what you think when you get it. After years of considering, we’re curious to hear!

I bought this vacuum refurbed a few months ago. I haven’t had any problems with it since, vacuuming about once a week. It’s wayyy better than any vacuum I ever used besides my mom’s Oreck, which is comparable in suction. I think it does a great job and it’s pretty easy to use. If you don’t care about the ball-rotation that the other models have, this will be the best deal you can get out of a Dyson. I have three cats and there is virtually no hair on the floor when I’m done with it.

I don’t now, nor ever have owned, a Dyson product, but how can there be that many refurbished Dyson vacuum cleaners? I wonder what percentage of what they build end up coming back? Or do they sell so many that a small percentage (based on sales), but a large number (based on units) is in line. Anyone have one of these?
Why is this DC33 usually less costly than the DC17 in spite this DC33 being about 10% stronger wattage and 10% less weight than the 17 is? This DC33 even seems to have more accessories too. 'Just bought the 17 in yesterday’s wootoff (my 1st wootoff) and already having buyers remorse now that I see this lighter, stronger, less discontinued model for the same price. Maybe the DC17 flexitool it came with made it worthwhile, or the hand controls justify the extra weight? Generally, I got the impression that wootoffs offered the best bargains but I’m now confused.

same as you buddy, just signed in and said a huge F***. anyone have experience with the 2?

I work at a retail store that sells Dysons. Dyson requires any vacuums that are returned to the store for any reason to be sent back to them. I would imagine that is why they would have a good supply to refurbish. Also a side note, where I work, the Dyson vacuums typically have the lowest amount of returns based on how many are sold. I own a Dyson vacuum and it picks up much better than any other vacuum I have had.

I’m fairly certain I know the answer, but isn’t this a downgrade from a Kirby?

I got the Dyson DC14 All Floors Vacuum a few months back, refurbished of course, and I’m very happy with it.

I think they have great refurbished vacuums IMO

I have the DC14 Animal - what I love about it is that the ENTIRE thing (well, except the motor) is washable. Vacuumed up some powdered sugar and then thought “great, now it’s going to be a magnet”. I started pulling it apart and I can wash the whole thing in the bathtub. LOVE THAT.

Received my Dyson yesterday. Worked fine in “hardwood floor mode”, but when I switched to “carpet mode”, it sounded like the vacuum was going to fall apart (like when a for falls in the garbage disposal)!!! I called Dyson Support, and we did some troubleshooting. They finally had to schedule an appointment at my local Sears for repair. (keeping fingers crossed)
