Dyson V15 Detect Total Clean Extra

Dyson V15 Detect Total Clean Extra

not good, got 10 bucks less at big lots going out of business. Deal sucks

[TT: Not at BL.]

I’ll take the additional $10 hit… not to go into a Big Lots. :joy::joy::joy:

I think its actually a pretty good deal for this package. Costco has a simmiliar package or even a slightly lower package for $600 (new of course)

We got this when it was woot before for 349.99. The unit has been flawless and as described. For a vacuum i really did enjoy going wireless and it has great power. On the other hand, I couldn’t imagine playing full price for this as the plastic feels flimsy in parts and the battery is a deterrable asset.

Good woot if you need a new vac

I have this vacuum. I bought it from Dyson a year or so back. A couple of observations:

-The particle count sensor stopped working almost immediately. Fortunately it’s a gimmick that isn’t needed to run the vacuum.

-The green laser light is both good and bad. It’s a bit hard to see in bright light, but in dimmer light it will show you everything on your floors. The bad? It will show you everything on your floors (which might make you a bit obsessive in trying to get it all).

-Battery life is meh. Lower suction lasts longer, but it also cuts the effectiveness.

-Dyson support isn’t the best.

-It seems to do well on my large area rugs.

  • It’s performance on dog hair on hardwood floors is good but not great.

I would not buy this again at the price I paid. This price is more reasonable, but it’s also refurbished. I’d be concerned about buying a refurbished battery.

You are 100% correct on the plastic. Loved my Dyson, it worked great. Then it tipped over on the carpeted landing in my house and the handle completely cracked through. I was shocked at how cheap the plastic is.

Dyson vacuums work great for about 2-3 years. And then they start having the same battery problems that all battery vacuums have, where they have to be charged more frequently and then finally don’t hold a charge at all. I would recommend buying a cheaper alternative, like a Sharp. Just my two cents…

Batteries can be replaced. I think this has the easy-to-replace battery but if not, YouTube has videos for this. I did this for my much older Dyson cordless and it’s working great again.

I got it from eBay refurbished but directly from Dyson’s store… for $400
Not disappointed is all I can say… I have a v6 changed the batteries on it twice and it still works like a champ so the only plus and selling point for me is changeable batteries and yes I got a 2 year limited warranty from Dyson so that’s better vs 180 days available here.
Just to add, long hair, if you have that kind of household this vacuum will disappoint you

What is this “You Tube” you speak of?

I bought one of these units a few months ago from Woot. It keeps telling me to clean the filter, even after five minutes of vacuuming after cleaning the filter. I contacted Dyson about it, and they’re sending me a replacement unit. The incorrect filter replacement thing seems to be a common issue with the unit.

Technically the batteries are replaceable but waited over a year for Dyson to have one in stock for the model we had, and then it was $100. I think Ryobi has the right idea with an easily swappable battery where you extend runtime just by plugging in a new battery. I hope Dyson will go that route, but not holding my breath. I have seen adapters on eBay for various devices to allow several 18-20 volt tool platform batteries to be used but haven’t tried that.

ROTFLMAO! This is really no shade on Woot, honest……but WTH?! Dyson pricing is ridiculous! The quality is no better than Shark and it does not function better than Shark…or Hoover…or Bissell. Speaking as someone who has owned all of them. Why am I raining on the parade here? Well, I was just shocked by this price is all. Merry Christmas everyone though!

Could not agree more wikkedgirl

I tried one on my V6 … then bought an actual replacement battery. The issue is voltage, or rather, the lack thereof. The stock Dyson battery is a 6-cell or 7-cell design; most common tool platforms are 5-cell. It could run, as the adapter has a boost circuitry, but suction was lower and it was incapable of powering the floor head.

(Note that I am not staff. I just volunteer to help out on the forums.)
