I like the one I bought, even though I paid like double, right before they started dropping the price aggressively to finish clearancing these things out, apparently.
It can play video, but has an odd, small, circular display, so it’s mostly just useful as a bedside alarm clock with full Alexa functionality. When you ask for the weather, for example, it displays it as Alexa reads it aloud.
It doesn’t sound as good as a full-sized Echo device for music playback, but it’s decent.
It has really pretty clock faces to pick from. Also looks like trading in one of these to Amazon gets you a $30 gift card and 25% off a show device.
I’m keeping mine.
i have one of these and I love alexa devices with screens as you can quickly view any camera in or outside of your house with the proper integrations. Its dumb Alexa doesn’t allow this on your Alexa app on the phone, only on alexa devices with screens (echo show or this echo spot)
I bought one of these at retail a while back and I think the volume is awful. You don’t even hear anything coming out of the device until you’re at nearly 90% turned up. Listening to Amazon Music with water running or general kitchen sounds is frustrating because of the lack of decent volume.
You may have a faulty one then cause I’ve found them to be decently loud
I can see why these didn’t catch on at the original msrp with their weird circular screen. At this price though, they’re a good deal for a loud alarm clock with full Alexa functionality.
One of mine would not register to my Amazon account but woot was quick at sending me a replacement and providing a shipping label to send the faulty one back.
On Prime Day I traded mine for an Echo Show 8. Between the sale, trade in, and extra % off, I only paid $4.44
Score!
