Green Grotto 24 šŸ’š The Home of Bunchies, murder bots, and....melons!

I never liked going to Lowes, but I love Menards.

The Lowes clearance plant rack was good though, but I haven’t checked it out in years. Not since we go to the Amish greenhouses.

Same. I love a good Amish greenhouse or store.
We have a good Amish store about 30 minutes from us.
We buy all our bulk nuts and baking supplies there.
We have a great Amish greenhouse about 5 minutes up the road.
The only time I go to lowes would be online shopping if the delivery is free… for bigger things.

i also feel the same about Walmart VS Meijer.
I have worked at both, but I feel so much more comfortable in a Meijer store than a Walmart.

we don’t have Menards or Meijer

The 100lb tank only holds about 22 gal. I got our grandson to help unload the full tank out of the pickup.

I wish we had a Meijer close by. It is a better shipping experience.

Walmart is… like a cattle pen herding you around on bare concrete. It sometimes smells poopy.

Our Walmart smells like primed humans. Deodorant…aisle 5, folks.

Yeah, they are Michigan based.
Just have their stores in a few states.
When we would go to the smokies, we would always do a break at the last Meijer on the trip…
Lexington…

We saw a really cool bird in our swamp yesterday!

It stuck around a long time, I don’t see it yet this morning.

Me, too. I think it’s a step up. I wouldn’t buy produce or meat at Walmart, but to be fair, their bakery is very good.

Our Walmart here has very good produce but the bakery is just OK.

We get fresh bakery items and some meats at Publix, produce at Walmart or Publix and sometimes Winn Dixie has good produce.

Most meats are purchased at Costco. They have the very best meats here (and the one we used to go to in WA state).

All better.
Shop-vacs did great.
Looks like we’ll need to get the floor buffed and resealed…but it needed it anyway.
Nowhere was it deeper than a 1/4" at its worst.
It all settled in the low spots.
Didn’t come thru the front nor the back. Not thru the a/c, boiler, laundry room.
Maybe thru the east side wall against the neighboring parking lot. That was a lot of rain in a short period and it had nowheee to go.

Another view near Menards last night.

A lot of stalled cars left in the road. Tow trucks are busy today.

wow.

Along the line of flooding I had some schadenfreude last week when we got all that last major rain.

So I think I shared that the dumb neighbors were trying to make us do something about the weeds in our ditch and blaming them for ā€œwashing outā€ their drive.
When in reality, it’s because they widened it with FINE gravel, instead of using the large stones on the upstream side to buffer.

So the county same out, did a bunch of stuff, put a few new culverts, including the one under their drive (fixing their poor attempt at widening) and they dipped our ditch (moot IMHO). If anything, the weeds (ecosystem) in my ditch slowed the water a bit so it wouldn’t hit theirs so fast.

SO. That last rain… It was major and fast!
Over flowed our ditch, covered the road and covered the end of their lane… Just like it always does in a big rain. NO CHANGE… So the county did all that for nothing.

It always does this, it goes a way a few hours after it stops raining.

Idiots. Would not listen to people that have lived here, for MANY years longer them they. But you know… All full of themselves, rednecks that own a business and have money, so they think they are right… Eff everyone else around them.

I think everything flooded from a bit North of here to the lake.

We didn’t get anything.
