HomeSoap UV Sanitizer

HomeSoap UV Sanitizer

This is normally $199.95 on the Mothership.
I bought this last week on sale on the Mothership for $159.96. So, I paid $29.97 more than the Woot price. I read several reviews of sanitizers. So, when this went on sale I knew I wanted it. The interior is much bigger than I expected. I put it by the front door. All we have to do when we get home is put our stuff in it, close the door, and wait 10 minutes! Phones, keys, belt, face mask, sunglasses, etc … I’m pretty sure my laptop will fit in it.

On the onset of the “pandemic” I built a box for home using a simple heavy duty cardboard box, some on hand reflective bubble wrap type sheets cut to fit. I’ve built another using a commercial grade light tube (type used in HVAC systems). Fast forward to current times.

I got this off the mother ship and use it in my office. Thought I thought it was pricey. I’m very happy with it. I use it my office. Love the 5/15/30 minute timer and it’s the right size. I work in IT so when I return to my office, I toss my mask, gloves, phone, glasses and whatever in the box, 15 minute zap and I feel good knowing I nuked the muck out of any little hitchhiker . I did built my own for home. Using a large collapsible cooler (has reflective padded insides), built a wooden frame to fit inside and help it keep it’s form while lying on it’s side, very reflective cookie sheet pan w/screen riser (gives me almost 2 inches of air gap from the bottom to the screen) and two UV-C 10watt lights (one on both sides of the container. Roomy for mail and other larger items I want to decontaminate. I didn’t get timers for the lights but I have a timer/remote plug I’m using instead.

We’ve got the PhoneSoap 3, and have bought a number of them for friends. Picked up 2 more today for the college kids.

Anyway, WRT the masks, PhoneSoap does state that fabrics do not sterilize well due to their surfaces not being smooth (UV can’t sterilize where it can’t get to). So careful there with the expectations.

Copy and paste of their site:

The UV light is most effective on hard, non-porous surfaces. The UV light is less effective against fabrics and other porous materials because of the many shadows they create that may block the UV light from hitting the surface. The UV light can only kill germs on surfaces with which it comes in contact.

But they are great for everything else like you say!

For fabrics use ozone.

I want to buy this but this is already sold out :upside_down_face: whatever, please anyone notify me when this will be available.

You need to be a little faster.

I don’t think Woot! would ship this to Ontario anyway.
