What happens when the internet goes out for days during an ice storm?
Would this be compatible with a Carrier Infinity system?
1: Your HVAC won’t be working if your electric is out, so not a problem.
2: The only thing you will notice is that you won’t see the outside temperature on the display.
I have this thermostat and while I was initially leery of the internet-connected features, they really aren’t that extensive and you can use the device unconnected if you want. Setting up schedules is easier through the web interface if you’re into that.
No. Your Carrier Infinity system uses a communicating thermostat and is proprietary.
Regarding question #2 and the previous response, the only thing I would add is that you would not be able to remotely turn on/off the AC/heater from the app/interface. The unit still runs the programed schedules just fine without the internet.
I have had the older model of this for the last 4-5 years and like it. I’m just now starting to have intermittent WiFi connection problems but I don’t know if it is the thermostat or my new router settings.
Great deal if you don’t mind not having Alexa or Google voice control. Deal breaker for me. I want to just say turn the air down as easy as I just say turn the light off.
“…use the free app for smartphone/Tablet to mange the thermostat…”
Sounds like a dog.
Bwahahaha! Oh man, tell me another one.
In the manual I don’t see reference to changing temperature units, only F.
Does this also display in Celsius?
First bullet says that it is compatible with Alexa and Google Home
What th’ heck is a “c-wire”? Huh?
“Common wire.” Brings 24v to the thermostat.
Warning for those who may have bought this… I just installed them (I got two) and the internet MAC ID’s in the card are not accurate. You have to get it directly off of the device, or it won’t connect.
