Per HP specs: Backlit keyboard standard, optional LTE card, soldered RAM, and internal battery. 4K display was an option, though I don’t know if it is swappable. Under 3 pounds IIRC. RAM sucks, but Windows should swap to the SSD when needed.
Agree with BerMM2. If I had not purchased a new HP Spectre X360 last year, for more than twice the price, I would be jumping on this. For me the design here, and particularly the unit weight, makes it very close to my new unit which in theory is one if not the best they were selling last year. The RAM stinks that it’s not upgradeable, and my unit has OLEM display, however, nearly $700 in my pocket would feel better.
Confused as to why people think that 8GB of RAM sucks in this type of Laptop. What programs are you running? Unless you are doing true gaming which this is clearly not designed for, running multiple OS environments which is pretty uncommon for 99% of users, or doing intense video processing- again not a common use for this type of laptop, or have a leak based on an errant app or program- it’s rare that most users will go over 4GB 90% of the time. If people would check their resource monitor or use all CPU meter widget monitor you would see that. This is a work/school device primarily going to be used for office applications/internet/social media/light gaming/light picture/video processing - yes there may be power users out there, but generally those people know who they are and aren’t using a sub $500 laptop to accomplish their needs.
I’d be more concerned with the old/slow processor than the ram.
The passmark is 3664 (this is the new passmark tests that are about 35% lower than the old passmark numbers)- so really for what the laptop is intended for and designed to be, the processor is plenty powerful to keep it going. The processor is still considered to be in the high-mid range category by current passmark standards.
I am more concerned about HP refurbished PCs than about the RAM or the processor. Apple refurbished products are really like new. HP, I don’t know.
The ones I own are like new.
Uh, so I ordered this laptop and it arrived today without an operating system installed. It says please install an operating system on your hard disk when I powered it on. I went through to double check, and it definitely mentions Windows 10 in the product description. I’m hoping this is a mistake on their end, because there’s no way I would have purchased a refurbed laptop that I’d have to turn around and spend a couple hundred bucks on an OS, I would’ve just picked up a Surface for a little more money.
No, no, no. It should have had Windows Pro installed. You can reach out to HP to see if they can help you get it going. If you’d rather not bother, reach out to Woot! Customer Service and they’ll help you with a return/refund.
